When people experience a traumatic event, the struggle itself may often act as an impetus for growth. According to Richard Tredeschi, one of the pioneers of PTG theory, “Posttraumatic growth is both a process and an outcome: The experience of positive changes in oneself as a result of the struggle with traumatic events.” Instead of spiraling downward indefinitely, those affected can reevaluate their belief systems and rebuild their world to flourish despite the suffering they experienced. The affected person initiates meaningful change. The transformative growth effects of PTG can involve thinking, emotions, and behavior.PTG has similarities with other traits of managing adversity well, including flourishing, discovery of meaning, resilience, optimism, thriving, and transformational coping.

You mean like a Starfish?

Yea you break off the trauma and grow back a new part of yourself. I have to separate a couple of events from my everyday consciousness

Also being grateful that I lived thru it has helped a lot. Also I had to ask myself it I did anything to allow the event to take place. Some bad stuff happened to be during a time in my life that I was doing some very heavy drinking. I quit drinking and dealt with what happened with a sober mind. Also some trauma from my child hood was brought on by adults I did a few dare devilish things too so it is what it is I accepted it and moved on mostly. I did alright and still am. The desire to get well has to be there.
