Being European (Swedish) it would be easy to say "haha, look how stupid Americans are", but come on. For every piece that got on the clip there were probably 10 that showed people answering "I'm pretty sure Canada has newspapers and you should know that", "An hour is an hour no matter where you are" ect.

And if someone who is supposed to know more about the subject (the interviewer is from Canadian TV, so he ought to be pretty sure about this kind of things) stated a fact that I felt 95% sure that it was false, I would still not say he was wrong. I'd just think "Oh, I was pretty sure they had newspapers... Ok, so they appearently spred news in other ways than papers. I'll look this up when I get home" or "I was almost certain Ottawa was the capital of Canada, oh well, I was wrong".

There is usually no reason to expect that the interviewer would lie to you.
