I'm not buying any of it. The old media may be scrambling right now, but behind the scenes are going to continue with their mandate dictated by Rupert et al. They stakes are way to high to just embrace Dr. Paul as he represents truth and freedom. Clearly they have demonstrated over and over what lengths they will go to manipulate information.
My experience tells me that change will only occur with an overwhelming and crushing defeat through our votes. (If we can assure that the votes are counted honestly)
This is just the beginning of the beginning.

I would just ignore them. No matter what this is far from over. There are tons of unknowns in both parties and with possible third party entrants (Bloomberg).

I believe they actually know the TRUE polling numbers and despite their best efforts, were unable to slow the Revolution down. They need to sugar coat a bit as to not lose credibility.

He has no chance". Now it will switch to "Ron Paul may be a contender in this race. He still won't win, but he could definitely upset the balance of power". This new "positive" bent is designed to disarm Ron Paul supporters who should be pushing for one singular goal in this election: Victory! Not "spreading the message" or "opening people's eyes". That is the failed tactic the Libertarian party has taken for decades. We must win! 2nd place is the first loser and will be forgotten before the new president has time to finish his inauguration speech. Just look at Ross Perot who got 19 million votes in his first run. When he ran the second time around he was dead in the water. Howard Dean, for all his fundraising and energetic campaigning, was all but forgotten the minute he lost the nomination to Kerry. Al Gore knew better than to run a second time, even though he arguably won the first. America doesn't like losers, and we have a very short memory.

What was Ross Perot's central message? I really can't remember, except it was opposed to whatever Washington was doing at the time. He had no coherent ideology. So naturally he has faded into oblivion.

Ron Paul, on the other hand, represents the traditional values of America: freedom. Freedom is a popular idea, and it won't go away. I think the Libertarian Party has done a great service by opening people's eyes, the current revolution didn't just start a year ago. Harry Browne's campaigns in 1996 and 2000 brought many new people into the libertarian ranks.

A limited government republic won't be restored after one election, it will take many years to undo the last 70+ years of welfarism and creeping government. So all of Ron's supporters need to be in this for the long haul.

Compared to their usual treatment of Paul, it's been a lovefest. I'm not sure if you weren't watching before, or if you aren't watching now, but something abruptly changed late last night.

The upshot here is, whatever the media's motivation for the change, Paul will 'win' Iowa with a high finish. This is HELM'S DEEP, people. We have only broken Saruman's power today. The real battle, to take Paul to Mount White House in Mordor/DC to destroy the ring of statist power, has just begun.
