This was helpful. I've heard of this before and never seen an evaluation like this. It would have benefitted from a comparison with a real suppressor. It seems to me that when I've seen a suppressor used with subsonic .22 LR, the result was quite a bit quieter.

There are some caveats while an oil filter can work as a silencer. Instead of metal baffles like in real firearm silencers, an oil filter has paper baffles and will only last a limited number of shots. Most oil filters are good for at least a few rounds.
