Ok, so I just got back from voting here in CA.

My experience:

I walk in to the voting station, there are three tables, first table they look up your name second table they give you your ballot, third table they take your ballot when you are finished.

So I walk to the first table, they ask me what my name is, I tell them, then they have me sign next to my name, THEY NEVER ASKED FOR MY PHOTO ID OR VOTER REGISTRATION CARD.

Then I go to the second table to get my ballot, they hand it to me in a folder, I go to the cubicle and vote for Ron Paul. The voting ballot was a scantron form where you fill in the bubble next to your candidate with an ink pen.

I then hand my ballot in the folder to the third table, she hands me a "I voted" sticker, then says, ok thank you. So I start to walk out the door, then I turn around and see her fake put it in the cardboard box with a slit in the side. This huge cardboard box has a lid on the top of it, and it looked like you could just take the top off of it and access the votes at your leisure. She then proceeds to try to put it in, then stops and gives it to the second table, who opens my folder and starts reviewing it, he then looks up at me and says "that's it" "thank you".

So I ask, arent you going to put it in the box? They say, yeah we will. Then he hands it back to the third table and they put it in the box. Then I leave.

So, they know who I voted for, and who knows what they would have done if I didnt make sure they put it in the box. There werent many people at the booth when I got there, and I didnt watch the people in front of me to see what they did with there ballots.... BUT I suspect that people just hand it to the third table then run out the door.

Seems to me like they were monitoring the ballots.... It stank to high heavens...

WTF?!
that is just wrong. no one should be able to look at your vote. that is why most voting places have the little booths with curtains. something is definitely fishy there. isnt there someone you can call to check up on that site?

Not sure who to call?

The whole process you described is how my voting experience went aside from the sticker and the lady not putting the ballot in the box. I fed my own ballot into the Diebold scantron machine.

That's jacked up they did that though. I would've made a bigger deal on the spot about it than that though.

hmph...i guess that IS a good question...does anyone know who to call in a situation like this? how about going back there yourself with a video camera and taping whats going on? bring a friend..always easier to stand up to them if there are two of you.

I just moved here, dont have any friends yet lol... guess I could contact the local meetup..

I think everyone who hasn't voted yet would be well advised to follow blackboxvoting's advice and take a video camera along when you go.
