Official presidential election results thread - Nov. 8, 2016

Even if true, I have no idea what any of this ^^^^ has to do with anything I said - which was merely that Trump isn't going to do jack $#@!, and that the sooner his ardent supporters realize this and stop hoping for change by working within the system, the better.

I repeat: Trump isn't going to do jack $#@!.

He isn't going to go after Hillary.
He isn't going to "drain the swamp."
He isn't going to "smash the establishment."
He isn't going to do any of the things the cuck-baiting alpha-suckers fap over.

And if he tries, he will discover, as Gail Wynand did in The Fountainhead, that "You don't run things around here" ...

I'm not sure you're addressing my point. You're saying 1) he won't try and 2) he will fail if he tries. Those are 2 different things. I would like to recommend the attempts to drain the swamp. Applaud those, provided I like the idea.

His voters have reason to believe that Trump will be trying to drain the swamp. I would like to see the swamp drained. What you're saying is garden variety cynicism?
I'm just saying it's would be interesting to see how that will go. Trump might be fighting with the swamp dwellers, and that would be fun to see.

The moment FL was called. Look at him.

Drain the swamp... if you accomplish nothing else fine.

Oh, who knows how things will turn out.

But it will be nice to have a non-puppet in the White House. As Lew Rockwell says: because he is his own man, at least there's some chance that Trump might actually do something good (!!!). As the perpetually optimistic little boy in Angels in the Outfield says: "It could happen!" I know, I know, maybe the Cubs could even win the World Series, too -- but it's theoretically possible.

Maybe Wayne Allen Root, the one prominent(ish) libertarian to be good to Trump instead of nasty, will have some place or influence in a Trump administration.

So, yeah. It will be nice to have a non-puppet in the White House.

It is also really very, very nice to have:

3. Two political dynasties destroyed
2. The corrupt, useless, loser GOP, Inc. and Conservative Thinktanks, Inc., both severely weakened

and, #1, the most delicious and important of all:

1. The main stream media utterly discredited, crushed, and destroyed.

Lena Dunham, Barbara Streisand, Rosie O’Donnell, Cher, Eddie Griffin, Samuel L. Jackson, John Stewart, Omari Hardwick, Whoopie Goldburg, Al Sharpton, Raven-Symone, Jennifer Lawrence, Barry, Diller, Miley Cyrus, George Lopez, Chelsea Handler, Jenny Slate, Neve Campbell, Zosia Mamet, Chloe Sevigny, Natasha Lyonne, Elisabeth Moss, Spike Lee, Kathryn Hahn, Lily Depp, Gabrielle Union, Matt Damon, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Amy Schumer, Will.I.Am, Bryan Cranston, Lena Dunham, Amy Schumer, Keegan Michael-Key, Ne-Yo

Let's get up a kickstarter, or if they still have "chip ins - probably a dead format" get them set up overseas.
Is Barry Diller one of the choices? There's one. Amy Schumer definitely should go. Lena Dunham definitely.
And Rosie O'Donnell, Barbra Streisand, Jon Stewart. There's a good place to start.

Maybe set up a poll website, and let Americans pick which one wins a one way ticket.
I'd choose Ruth Baider Ginsburg or Amy Schumer.

Carville says the democrat party is devastated nationally and statewide.

Right On.

1) possiblity of good, because (possibility that) he's his own man. (That's a plausible theory, not entirely proven.) With Libertarians onboard.
2) Bush, Clintons OUT
3) The RNC staffed by non Bushes/Romneys/McCains
4) Media crushed, wikileaks + internet beats the swamp media.

Another one is the ability for those who were under attack from PC/SJW. "Hey listen, I get that you're shrieking hysterically. You were shrieking hysterically about Trump when Bill Clinton did 10x worse. You have be repudiated. We don't listen to you any more. After you defended Clinton the first time, we noticed that you were shrieking hysterically about Clarence Thomas. You cannot be trusted to sound any sort of reasonable alarm about behavior. Your sensors need calibration. They're entirely turned off with Democrat politicians, an insanely sensitive. When your sensors are so completely broken, it always takes as least 10 years to fix. Come back in 10 years or more, and you'll be taken at least a little bit seriously, until you show that your sensors are still defensive, in which case, more time in the shop to fix the sensors.

5) effective repudiation of PC/SJW

You don't start talking about locking her up during a concession speech. You wait until you are president, and then start making your moves, re-opening the investigations, etc.

Of course not. To do so wouldn't be appropriate in any sense or circumstance. You are correct there (except that it wasn't a 'concession' speech ;)).
All he needed to do was congratulate her on a hard-fought campaign and leave it at that. But it was not necessary to do a complete 180 degree flip into offering unqualified praise to your challenger that most of your supporters view as a crook. That was where he erred in a victory speech in front of his most loyal supporters.

(Not really all that important though in the scheme of things, so I guess I'm just nit-picking.) :)

My favorite part of a Trump victory, no matter how distasteful that may be, was the Bush clan's open support - and in some cases voting - for Clinton.

Bush openly supporting Clinton and then Clinton going down in flames to one of the most hated nominees in history, definitively ends the reign of both the Bushes and the Clintons in anything outside of payola for the next 50 or so years. They imploded into each other, which is perfect. They will have to wait until people forget the name again. Like they did with Prescott Bush.

Katy Perry is quite defiant.

Trump may get some momentous things done on his checklist, but I don't see the usual suspects disappearing from DC under his watch. Giuliani is probably slated to be Attorney General (who better to oversee "terrorism surveillance"?) and Priebus as his Chief of Staff.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump's past chumminess with hawkish Democrats rears a kind of ugly head before it's over with. The tons of money Trump funneled to conscription fanatic Rangel scares the crap out of me.
