"OFFICIAL" Post your idea of how you would like to see Grassroots Central broken up.

Agreed. I rarely check other sections because there isn't much activity in them

Move the popular news garbage that muddies up the grassroots effort on this board to another section and it will become popular.

I want grassroots to NOT be popular so the 5 yes 5. FIVE efffing grassroots threads on the first FIVE pages can stay at the top.

General >>> Specific Model?

I am really glad this is being considered. To be honest, the amount of categories to post under is a bit overwhelming. That's why I think most people just go ahead and put their thread in Grassroots Central, as it gets 10x the traffic. It's just an idea, but I like to start from big and work my way down to small (from general >>> specific, in other words), kind of like a filing cabinet. I think this would have beneficial effect on the allocation of traffic and give users who place their threads in an appropriate sub-forum the views & comments they deserve.

The most popular topics seem to be:
-Links (to videos, pictures, articles)
-Polls
-Community Discussion (Ex: Debate discussion threads, personal stories to share, brainstorming, questions, etc.)
-Calls to Action (Ex: Twitter bombs, Facebook bombs, Comment bombs - also time sensitive and it sucks to miss these types of threads)

The fewer main categories, the better, as people could decide what main category their post falls under and then go from there. For example, I've shared pictures of my front window decked out for Christmas w/ a Ron Paul sign. That could have gone under "Pictures > Grassroots Activism," for example. It might be no coincidence that the forum at the top gets the most traffic - the main forums page is quite the epic list to scroll through. It's got a logical setup, but it seems to be more catered to a small group of people who all know where everything's at. Our numbers are growing, though, and will continue to do so; therefore, solidarity is going to be hard to achieve without coming off as "anal" ... for lack of a better word. :p

Also, "Grassroots Central" kind of comes off in its title as a place for grassroots activists to gather, kind of like a chatroom, lol. I think that could be a bit of the problem too.

I think breaking "grassroots central" into more manageable chunks is LONG overdue. As it is (and has been for years), it's a major pain in the butt. I suggest the following sub-forums to start with:

- Activism & Ideas
- News Media
- Polls (including reports and speculation on the latest professional polls)

I like pen_thief's suggested categories also.

BAD ASS

I'm stoked that on the entire front page of the grassroots section of the forum there are all NEWS stories... not grassroots anything, just links to NEWS STORIES... except 1 BAD ass thread that keeps dropping off the page.

Way to fail hard grassroots section. Fail... fail... fail.

If i want the news, i'll go to news.google.com

I want to do GRASSROOTS activism... something that is NOT posted about in the grassroots forum... WTF come on guys!

screw 100% of the people who cry about the news not being posted in the grassroots forum. They are not grassroots activists they are couch commanders that sit on their asses too lazy to go to a news page and LOOK for a ron paul article. Screw them and their laziness. I'm sick of not seeing ANY grassroots activism on the page. I never should have read back 2 or 3 pages of this thread. I'm sick to death of lazy people reading news stories all day.

It doesn't take all that much effort to sift through moderated forums and participate. We've done lots of stuff since you've joined...

Half of being a good activist is being readily able to counter the MSM's talking points with undecideds/independents of all stripes.

Sifting through the main forum helps keep one aware of the many news topics out there. If you read through this feedback thread, you would read a lot of polite mixed reviews. Don't be a scumbag.

I dunno, I like Grassroots for what it is: fast paced, multi-topical, informational and ultimately exciting. The fact that 500 (or more) people are viewing the forum with you is exhilarating.

I vote to keep it as-is.

Yup.

Maybe just ad a "Get Active" subforum so good ideas don't get buried so fast...but I go right to grassroots central and love all that is posted. If broken up more we should be able to subscribe to whole forums that would show all posts from checked forums under "My Forums"...possible?

I like it as is. I don't think we go through enough topics to warrant having other sections. It's also nice having everyone in one place.
Maybe just make Official threads for debates and polls.

Honestly I only check 5 places. Ron Paul section, General Politics, Opposing candidates, Economics, and debates section, but I do work and have kids so I really can't spend massive time on here.

I use only two features:
1. "new posts"
2. "threads I posted in"
There is order in chaos.

My guess is creating one "general" forum for everyone to dump whatever in, and just leaving the specific detailed forums as is would work. Those that just want to visit the most populated forum would frequent the general forum. Those that want a more narrowed-down approach would use the individual forums. Move everything that is posted in "grassroots central" that isn't specifically related to grassroots activity straight to "general".

(Of course, tags would remove the need for sub forums, but that would likely slow server speed down too much.)

Since my english is not perfect I have a question:
What is purpose of Grassroots Central?
Is it that people can find news easier?
Or is it that people can get organised and get their ideas reality?

If it is for people to find their news easier then ok.... BUT if it is for people so that they can get organised and get their ideas succeed then it is failing....not just "Grassroots Central".

Since so many people want to have all news on 1 place and want that their opinions are read by most amount people possible why not make in Grassroots Central subforum "news". This way they would get their attention and Grassroots Central would be for Grassroot projects (and he would be alive because people would go in it to get to news sub-forum).

Consider what the role of government (this forum) ought to be?

I dont really support splitting, since this is the only part i check.
Seconded, although if the Grassroots forum is renamed there's no harm there. I think it would be useful though if the later of 2 duplicate thread titles is locked by moderators to prevent further posting. That would encourage thread starters to check before starting a new thread.

Can we get someone tell us is this still under consideration, decided or rejected and what decision is ???

it was changed to color coded thread prefixes

Yes I noticed that is why I asked. Were there any other changes? Prefixes now make easier to tell what thread is about etc. I want to know is there anything else. Is there any mechansm stoping PRIORITY threads (projects) to be pushed on 3rd page within few hours and forgotten....Were there any other changes?

Also: you labeled wrong your thread "SWITCH gear". It is not "priority" it is "advise" :D
