"OFFICIAL" Post your idea of how you would like to see Grassroots Central broken up.

The only thing any of our team tweets is when a post is promoted to the front page.

I'm not sure where, why, or who tweets all of the other threads.

Is it possible to set "New Posts" to show posts from only the selected sections of the forum I would like to show up there? If that is a possibility then I would be fine with it. I typically only check Grassroots, General, and Opposing Candidates.

I like these 3 ideas. That seems like a pretty logical way to separate it.

Now only if vbulletin allowed me to customize which subforums showed up in new posts. That would be awesome.

It is possible to customize which forums show up in New Posts. Check this thread for more information:
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showth...hat-only-shows-posts-relating-to-the-election

For example, if you would like only Grassroots Central, General Politics, and Opposing Candidates to show up, use these links:
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/search.php?do=getnew&include=296,23,313
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/search.php?do=getdaily&include=296,23,313

Or to exclude those 3 forums from showing up:
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=296,23,313
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/search.php?do=getdaily&exclude=296,23,313

You can then bookmark those links for easy access in the future.

Grassroots and General Politics needs definite and clear definitions, so no one is confused what goes in what.

I never new about the new post link. Feel free to break it up. I will use that link for now on.

I'm another one that uses "new posts" almost exclusively. Occasionally I will go directly to the Virginia section. Grassroots appears to be the de facto triage section for mods.

The real solution lies with the front page. The threads that are shown on the home page should be categorized based on the sub-forum. For example:

Grassroots Central:

*Then proceed to show the recent threads*

General Politics:

*Then proceed to show the recent threads*

_______________:

*Then proceed to show the recent threads*

etc. etc. etc.

This should significantly reduce unnecessary traffic to Grassroots Central.

i say leave it like it is. i check that section all the time and multiple others. i really dont like the idea of checking more stuff. this takes up hours everyday for me to do anyway.
this could cause a divorce lol.

great idea.

Horrible idea. There are already too many forums. People with "lives" don't want to have to been hopping all around tarnation. As it is, I only view GRC and Gen Politics. And it bugs me like hell that I miss good things in the other forums but life is too short.

I always just hit "new posts". I never go to the individual forums unless I want to post something new.

The main point is to have people go to the local forums for organization...central is the only bumpin place so everyone feels they have to post here to be heard..

I always figured everything regarding Ron Paul 2012 goes here, and things dealing with general politics go into General Politics. Really, General Politics has already been split up into different sections so I think its also abused even though it doesn't receive as much traffic.

When i hear Grassroots Central, I think of grassroots projects that help get Ron elected. Sign wave, donating, making pamphlets, etc.

My idea:

1) Questions about Ron Paul
2) Ron Paul Interviews and (positive) Articles
3) Grassroots Projects
4) Debates
5) Polling

Something like that.

ETA: Went back and reread the OP. Much simpler than my idea. We already have a Ron Paul on the Issues and debates, polling, and articles could all be put into one. I like organization. :p

The hard part is getting people to use the appropriate subform. I could still see Grassroots Activism being abused. Not sure if its possible, but maybe before posting a new thread the forum automatically does a search for similar titles. Would really cut down on double/triple posting.

i like it as is, personally. going to multiple subforums is a pita and you risk lowering overall usage as we end up 'adopting' one of the new branches as the main place to post, anyway.

If news is split off and grassroots was only grassroots all would be fine. News mixed in drops the great grass roots projects that take more than 1 hour to get some posts on it. no bumps = dead idea. too many news stories now-a-days to have them crushing the activism posts.

If we re-arrange the forums, how about thinking of the posts in this way:

original material....OP's that are original work, not a link to some article or news clip videos or other stuff elsewhere created

regurgitated material....OP's that have links and discussion of news and stuff, not grassroots or RP campaign efforts

Just a thought.

I second this idea.

I think that is a likely scenario, the vast majority congregating in one forum with the most catch-all title.
