Official Mid Term Election Thread

Never mind - absentee ballots weren't yet counted. She lost by 60. Would have been a fun win, as he was already sworn in as their speaker.

In other devastating news....Ebke lost her race too.
Any chance of a recount?

Any chance of a recount?

She posted it on Facebook - didn't seem the be especially skeptical. We'll see.

And in other "Ron Paul was right - you have to run in the GOP" news:

Party-Switching N.H. State Rep. Brandon Phinney Gets Slaughtered as a Libertarian

he New Hampshire state representative, elected to the 400-member body in 2016 as a Republican, switched to Libertarian in June 2017 after watching the machinery of allegedly small-government Republicanism up close. "I saw how they wanted to spend all of our money," he recalled to me in an interview this summer, "and that immediately set off every red flag imaginable." He targeted archaic laws to be stricken from the books, helped effectively legalize visiting bands drinking beer on stage, and prepped for his first election wearing the "L" right there on his sweater.

With a win tonight, Phinney could demonstrate that the most libertarian among Republicans can safely switch to the more ideologically sympatico smaller party, and still protect a seat. Other major-party politicians, surely, would take note in these polarizing times.

Phinney did not win. He got trounced.

"After two years of voting to protect personal freedom, control spending, provide transparency and after two years of proposing legislation to do the same (with two bills as a prime sponsor signed into law)," Phinney wrote on his Facebook page, "my district rewarded me with 377 votes." It got more bitter from there:

CA Gas tax repeal: Yes: 45% No: 55% That's w/ early mail-in ballots and 34% of votes cast today counted.

All I can get from that is that a lot of people just seen "Tax" and voted no... was it in Spanish, too?

Missouri is one of the Senate seats the Republicans got, McCaskill has been in the Senate for 12 years, and if you would of seen some of her commercials here you would of thought she was a conservative, but the people weren't fooled.

Josh Hawley GOP 1,245,732 51.5%
Claire McCaskill* Dem 1,101,377 45.5%

Behind the campaign scenes.

How bad is the state of the democratic party in Connecticut? Scumbag elite Dannel Malloy has left the state a cratering hole of graft and debt.

https://www.courant.com/politics/capitol-watch/hc-pol-malloy-approval-rating-20181027-story.html

Polls have shown that Malloy has ranked as the nation’s least popular governor after unpopular Republican governors in New Jersey and Kansas left office. Malloy is also among the least liked governors in modern Connecticut history — ranking lower than Gov. John G. Rowland’s approval rating of 24 percent in a Quinnipiac poll in 2004 after admitting that he lied about home improvements at his cottage in Litchfield County.

Lamont barely prevails, but with a hopelessly broke state government, look for the pain and entertainment value to increase.

Just to refresh my memory, can you post evidence of Ron Paul saying "you have to run in the GOP"? I don't recall that.

I don't think that's as much a direct quote over hearing him say multiple times that the system is rigged in favor of the GOP and DNC and that's why he ran as a Republican.

Here in NY I was hoping it would be like when people got sick of Mario Cuomo and elected a Republican - Pataki for governor. This time kicking out his son Andrew for Marc Molinaro, but no luck, not even close. Cuomo gets a third term and the Dems even gained control of the state senate. Complete blue wave here and all the rural counties that went Red as usual, votes don't count. Mass immigration over the last 50 years has ended the Republican party for good here.

If I did not live here I would say good, let these SOB's that vote for this suffer the punishment of their vote under the weight of higher taxes.

Almost. He often has quoted his friend Larry McDonald. He told him he was thinking of running for congress and asked him which party he should run under. Rep. McDonald told him to run under whichever party he thought he could win with. McDonald was a democrat.

New York is where the higher wages and lucrative benefits are. That's why we are inundated with dependents. Not to mention the white citizens here are the definition of delusional.
