I think towards the middle / end of the last campaign we all realized the Paul campaign wasn't playing to win, they were playing for change and influence. Well, it seems that part worked. I for one hope that this time around he is playing to win the Presidency.

Agree. I also think the early push for fundraising this time speaks to a strategy to win rather than educate. Obama is already making noise like he plans to spend $1Bn on his campaign this time. Not only is that sick, filthy, and disgusting, but by setting that target we can discern who really is "in it to win it" in 2012 by how serious they are about fundraising.

I hate hate hate that money drives politics so much, but given what we know, this early push by RP for fundraising is actually encouraging to me, as it is clear that RP has his eyes on the right thing for planning a campaign to actually win the race.

I've been attempting to donate since midnight last night. Every time, with two different cards, I have received the following message:

Anyone have any idea as to why this keeps happening?

**Collins, if you read this, I can't send a message to Eric because he has that function disabled in his privacy options.

Ok, so it did that to me the second time I tried to donate and I realized that I hade not changed the expiration date on the form. Noy sure if this is what is happening to you but maybe...

Biggest objection that I have heard so far..... "He hasn't even announced if he is going to run or not" and "I donated last time and he did not even try to win"

Don't shoot the messenger! :)

I have passed this along.

I'm donating $50 when we break 500k. I'm a college student, but fuck it what's the point if you can't fight for something you believe in.

I was told this is more about the amount of donors than it is about amount raised..

That's good. Because both of those objections are ones that nobody will be able to make in a few months. A lot of people are going to want to wait until they see that this is for real. There's nothing wrong with that. If those are their real reasons, then they'll join us soon enough, and when they do, they'll still be able to donate that money that they're not donating today.

ok i donated 20.12 just because i had it in my paypal! If anyone can donate a lil extra i will not feel so guilty!! moving to denver and cannot even move until i get my paycheck wed:(

That would make a lot of sense since the PAC money can't actually be used directly for the campaign. It's just the exploratory committee and only needs enough money to cover travel for Ron and his aides and the start of building the campaign. If this is the case then everyone should just donate $5 or $10 and call it a day. Keep your powder dry for the campaign.

The PAC can run ads, so there is a lot a PAC could do to help his run.

Second donation today once we broke $500,000. We break $750,000 and I'm giving $50 more. I'll bankrupt myself if it spares this entire nation going bankrupt!
