Mindless consumerism? How about mind your own business-ism? It's not your money.

A group of us from Occupy Wallstreet begin to protest the mindless consumerism being displayed on black friday and Bestbuy locations across the country. Join us as we engage and disrupt crony capitalism!

Organized via your smartphones using Twitter or Facebook?

I'm sure that plenty of people buying things tomorrow fall under the category of "mindless consumers," but I'm also sure that plenty do not.

Just curious though--how is Bestbuy part of the corporatist problem? I never heard of Bestbuy lobbyists or any legislation that ensures that they get government contracts or tax breaks.

Hi Amy - thought you might get a kick out of this. Liberal Detroit - the city that has no big box stores or chain grocers (no crony capitalists here!!!) - is celebrating because Whole Foods (aka Whole Paycheck) is going to open a store. However, the small independent guy who has served that neighborhood for 35+ years is planning on throwing in the towel after they arrive.

dumbassery at it's finest.

No wonder they think Free Market Capitalism sucks--they're too f'ing stupid to make it work for the little guys that they allegedly support. Hope the independent guy has a plan B. :(

How is stopping people from shopping friday disrupting crony capitalism? I'm so sick of hearing about OWS but on RPF of all places it's just disgusting.

I'd rather have Crony Capitalism than any form of Socialism.

But I'd prefer a true free market to either.

Occupy seems to be advocating a jump from the frying pan to the fire.

Down with democracy. Long live the Republic.

doesnt need to actually be him, anybody promoting george4title crap deserves to be banned

Really,,
George broke the story of Jonathan Irish having his baby stolen by CPS.

Yes,, he does do some odd stuff. That is why I suggest a bit of discernment.

Sense. This makes none of it.

If I want to go out and blow my money on significantly cheaper electronics on one day of the year, at some ridiculous hour of the morning, what is the issue?

Also, Best Buy allowing tents on their.. wait, what's that? private property? ohemgee!
I'm getting lulz out of this video. Seriously.

if you needed it or were going to buy it anyway, then no issue at all , when better to buy than when cheapest?

But if you don't, and can think of waiting, maybe not spending is best, that's just my opinion. I have no problem with people who know how to save money, IF they actually do. If they end up spending more for what they don't need, that's their problem.

I don't think he was the first to learn of the story, but I'll take your word for it.
If he did, he did it for no reason other than to buy himself publicity to promote his pump & dump scheme.
He does MOSTLY odd things, he's feeding off the fear and hype of hyperinflation alarmists and conspiracy theorists, he, like Alex Jones, knows how to be the bad guy they claim to hate. Scamming innocent people for their money and calling people who make more money "crooks".

so hes not even going to wait and see what its like to compete with them? seems more like the guy is looking for sympathy in the news and get more business or hope someone stops them from moving in. plus whole foods is frigan expensive as hell and is always crowded, two reasons someone would not be shopping there. so what a capitalist would do is change the business model to take advantage of these things. like sell cheaper food and a smaller place will be less crowded, god knows i try to avoid walmart as much as i can not as charity for the small guys but because the lines are long and the people in there depress me. its only price that brings me there so you can compete by staying close in price but bringing in other factors that would make someone want to shop at your store.
