I've been "treated like the help" before, but the difference is that I don't think I'm too good to help another person, so I go ahead and help them anyway if I can, whether even though it's not my job.

This all leads me to wonder, did Obama or Michelle ever hold any menial jobs as teenagers or young adults?

Michelle Obama told one story that recently took place, even as she was first lady of the United States.
"I tell this story – I mean, even as the first lady – during that wonderfully publicized trip I took to Target, not highly disguised, the only person who came up to me in the store was a woman who asked me to help her take something off a shelf. Because she didn't see me as the first lady, she saw me as someone who could help her. Those kinds of things happen in life. So it isn't anything new," Michelle Obama, who is 5'11", said.

While i am no fan of Obama (and by no fan i mean i hate the idea that we share the same air) the idea of ingroup bias is real and regardless of how some think the world is so fair and equal, it isn't nor will it ever be. when those in power are not a part of your group you will get the shaft. Get use to it, get over it and work around it.
