It is not about the helping the poor. It is about helping the unions. Most union wages are tied to the min wage. So if the min wage goes up so does their base pay...

I hadn't been aware of this until recently, when a friend had stated such. However, I think the argument is disingenuous since most proponents of the minimum wage clearly think they will help the lower class workers. Hell, there are anti-union Republicans that aren't against the minimum wage.

My son is paying rent, eating and not getting any outside aid. They do not have cable TV, but they do have internet. He also has a kitten, and he buys it food too.

They do not live in a slum. They live in a professionally manged apartment community. They have heat, air, a dishwasher, 2 bedrooms, and are in a low crime area.

Not sure how you define "adequately."
