The medical system really is a joke. My wife has Type I diabetes and has already had two "high risk" pregnancies. In 4 years, I think she has probably stayed a total of 7 days in a hospital between two births. Our youngest had two days in the Nicu for low blood sugar. Appointments through that entire time couldn't have take up more than 50-60 hours, most of which was waiting in a Dr's office. The only other expense she incurred was regular insulin and glucose testing supplies. Somehow, in 4 years, our insurance has been billed to the tune of $ 140k.

My mother in law was forced to buy insurance due to Obamacare. She never had it before and she doesn't make much money at all. She was always able to afford her doctor visits without it though. If she didn't still live with her parents, I don't know how she'd pay the bills without help from us. Even when she gets medicaid and SS we'll eventually have to help out. All these government handouts make everyone's care needlessly expensive especially for the working poor. Those with jobs just getting by are incentivized to quit their jobs and get on welfare. It's admirable that she never did that.

throw on insurance taxes and if your under 20% some pmi and that loan figure probably drops all the way to 125k or so.

You're missing the long con while debunking the short con. Mom's box of chemical comprised "faux food" cakes (no doubt loaded with gmo and stuff you can't pronounce) and gmo corn syrup corrosive soda will result in her and her kids ending up sick and cancerous sooner than you think. That's not an accident. However, in order to provide some semblance of care to the masses that are being sickened by the cheap and intentionally unhealthy food supply, the system must be changed to spread the burden of care across the population, while they slowly die off. Obamacare is the incremental conditioning step toward that socialist health "care" system. This is the depopulation agenda in a nutshell. Not sure it takes much, but I think eating mostly Salt and Sugar or Carb filled foods play havok on metabolism.

Even worse, I think there is a lot of pseudo health food that is misleading. Some poor people might make the effort, even if a little misguided, to eat better buying Low Fat food not realizing the Fat has been replaced by salt or sweeteners so it doesn't taste like cardboard.

Even if a Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice TV Dinner seems marginally healthy, a person chasing after Low Fat will get nice offerings of Potatoes and Rice Carbs. .

The Super Market is full of diet traps like this. The annoying thing is a few might try eating those prepared Salads from the deli and feel hungry if they're not getting much protein or fat.
