Well, I guess I should be happy, TN was supposed to be +36% and we're ONLY +25.5%. My cheapest plan for my family is $643/mo with a $12k deductible.....what exactly is the point of health insurance with a $12k deductible.

#!@$!#@$$#!@$ Team Blue and Team Red #@$!#$@#$!#@$!@#$

Yes but you're also 25% closer to free socialized healthcare, as this was good step in that direction

Think of this shit the next time you are in line with SNAP Mom buying 2 liters and boxes of Zebra Cakes. It is for the greater good.

Obamacare isn't about paying for the welfare mom. She had nothing to do with this other than being the public excuse for the program. Obamacare is about allowing the crony-capitalists to continue to run the massive health care scam for a few more years.

Insurance companies were all in until it turned out that the whole thing in a fraud.

We discontinued health care coverage for employees last year after we could no longer afford it.

God damn that type of shit pisses me off. You can almost predict who's on snap in front of you at the grocery store based on their cart. Hohos, Doritos and Mountain Dew all name brand. Not sure if I've ever seen one of those fat cows with a piece of fruit or vegetables in their cart.

That's just because you're a selfish 1%er just kicking the common man in da nuts.

From the horse's mouth: https://www.healthcare.gov/how-plans-set-your-premiums/

Obamacare Rating Variables

Age: Premiums can be up to 3 times higher for older people than for younger ones.
Location: Where you live has a big effect on your premiums. Differences in competition, state and local rules, and cost of living account for this.
Tobacco use: Insurers can charge tobacco users up to 50% more than those who don’t use tobacco.
Individual vs. family enrollment: Insurers can charge more for a plan that also covers a spouse and/or dependents.
Plan category: There are five plan categories – Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and catastrophic. The categories are based on how you and the plan share costs. Bronze plans usually have lower monthly premiums and higher out-of-pocket costs when you get care. Platinum plans usually have the highest premiums and lowest out-of-pocket costs.

Factors that CAN NOT affect premiums

Insurance companies can’t charge women and men different prices for the same plan.
They also can’t take your current health or medical history into account. All health plans must cover treatment for pre-existing conditions from the day coverage starts.

Lets just go through some of the simple consequences of this pos:

(1) Young aged individuals have a price floor at 1/3 of the oldest and most expensive users of plan premium.
(2) Men will receive the same pricing as women (despite not being able to give birth which is one of the most expensive and common healthcare costs)
(3) You will pay the same rate as someone who has pre existing and ongoing health problems (ie guaranteed to use plan premium).

Because businesses are not in this game to lose money, they will charge the high users of healthcare the max rate which just so happens to be the rate you (a healthy/average individual) pay.

I don't pay anything for health care premiums. I have an HSA and put my money in there.

Now, since this law, I've had to sign up for something called a "high deductible consumer health plan", but the premiums are comparatively low and my company covers them. However, if I lost my job for some reason, I'd keep up the HSA and pay the fine (tax) instead of paying those insane premiums.

The plan were going to go for is $10k/yr for a young family of 4. Parents mid 30s kids under 7.

That's a frigging mortgage payment or half a car a year.

The medical system really is a joke. My wife has Type I diabetes and has already had two "high risk" pregnancies. In 4 years, I think she has probably stayed a total of 7 days in a hospital between two births. Our youngest had two days in the Nicu for low blood sugar. Appointments through that entire time couldn't have take up more than 50-60 hours, most of which was waiting in a Dr's office. The only other expense she incurred was regular insulin and glucose testing supplies. Somehow, in 4 years, our insurance has been billed to the tune of $ 140k.
