Can this guy be any more self contradictory? Yes english should be the only language in the United States. Now you should teach your kids spanish so illegal immigrants dont have to learn ENGLISH. Yeah lets just give them the power to kick us out of our own country, or whats left of it...

I am a big fan of multilingualism, but not with Spanish. It is a very easy language to learn (especially if you know more than one European language like I do), but I'd much rather learn Japanese or Korean. Maybe it's just me, but I've found that every person in Latin America I'd actually want to have a conversation with would rather speak English. I'm sorry, I just don't have much in common with people in some rural village, and urban professionals tend to understand the value of English. This also is the case in parts of Europe and India. Learning several languages that are so similar to each-other is a waste of time - just learn the most economically useful language in each major language group, which for European languages is English.

You should learn Spanish anyways.... It's not a terribly difficult language to learn and it makes business sense. I regret quitting after Spanish II, I'll probably be putting some time in soon to correct that.

Eh, I've got no particular attachment to the English language, aside from my natural bias that comes from being born into it.

Considering that they are us, I think it makes sense for us to be able to communicate with ourselves.
