Obama to Bush 41: We are a ‘gentler nation’ because of you

Source
It was a homecoming for former President George H.W. and former first lady Barbara Bush at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. on Monday where they joined President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, in presenting the Points of Light honor for extraordinary work in community service.

The Points of Light Foundation, now the world's largest service organization coordinating volunteer projects, started during the Bush administration. The 41st president serves as the non-partisan, non-profit foundation's honorary chairman and his son, Neil Bush, is the president.

Obama thanked the former president for his long legacy of community service.

"In addition to this award, he created the first White House office dedicated to promoting volunteerism, and he championed and signed the National and Community Service Act,” Obama said.

The law helped jumpstart AmeriCorps, a federal program that places volunteers in a variety of nonprofit organizations around the country.

Obama credited Bush with setting off a sea change of volunteerism among Americans.

"Volunteerism has gone from something some people do some of the time to something lots of people do as a regular part of their lives," the president said.

"We are surer a kinder and gentler nation because of you," he added.

According to Obama We are surer a kinder and gentler nation because of President George H.W. You must be joking me.
America isn't an gentler nation because of the Bush family its an war mongering nation because of them, i wonder whom brought us the failed Iraq war the war in afghanistan? oh thats right Bush and here we have Obama praising Bushes.

Look at This Visualization of Drone Strike Deaths
A California data design company has just put out a controversial new drone data project.

Pitch Interactive, a California-based data visualization shop, has created a beautiful, if somewhat controversial, visualization of every attack by the US and coalition forces in Pakistan since 2004.

The data is legit; it comes from the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, but as Emma Roller at Slate notes, the designers present it weirdly, claiming at the beginning of the interactive that fewer than 2 percent of drone deaths have been "high profile targets," and "the rest are civilians, children and alleged combatants." At the end of the visualization, you find out that a majority of the deaths fall into the "legal gray zone created by the uncertainties of war," as Brian Fung put it at National Journal.

But the "legal gray zone" itself is alarming enough—highlighting the lack of transparency surrounding the administration's drone program—as are the discrepancies in total numbers killed. It's between 2,537 and 3,581 (including 411 to 884 civilians) killed since 2004, if you want to go with the BIJ. Or it's between 1,965 and 3,295 people since 2004 (and 261 to 305 civilians), if you want to believe the Counterterrorism Strategy Initiative at the New America Foundation. Or perhaps it's 2,651 since 2006 (including 153 civilians), according to Long War Journal. (The NAF and Long War Journal base estimates on press reports. BIJ also includes deaths reported to the US or Pakistani governments, military and intelligence officials, and other academic sources.)

So, here is Pitch's take on what killing people in Pakistan with flying robots has looked like over the past nine years:

Plant's drones revenge spree on this chart between bombing of CIA base in Afghanistan (2009) and Boston Marathon bombing (19 April 2013) looks like heavy mesh of bloodshed that has killed thousands of innocent people.

Obama has good reason to be grateful to Daddy Bush. After all, it was largely because of him that the U.S. was awash in cheap and widely available blow during the 1980's.

Yeah, nothing creepy about that:

"The Points of Light Foundation, now the world's largest service organization coordinating volunteer projects, started during the Bush administration. The 41st president serves as the non-partisan, non-profit foundation's honorary chairman and his son, Neil Bush, is the president."

This Obama character is one of the biggest bait and switch con artists of all time. And because of him the Dem party is ripe for conversion. The signs have been there for anyone that wanted to look. But his followers didn't care, they loved him.

Seriously, Get a ROOM! It's the Oval Office (complete with bubba)

Obama: If it were the 80's I'd be considered Republican!

He has ruined the D's. Only few of them realize it yet.

He sold out not only his "party" he sold out his people. He's a disgrace.

Did you go to the link and watch it? I wish I could figure out how to make it play here.

Obama

"The first thing I found in that desk the day I took office was a letter from George, and one that demonstrated his compassion and generosity. For he knew that I would come to learn what he had learned — that being president, above all, is a humbling job.

I'm sure it WAS humbling.

Rockin' In The Free World by Neil Young
--------
There's colors on the street
Red, white and blue
People shufflin' their feet
People sleepin' in their shoes
But there's a warnin' sign on the road ahead
There's a lot of people sayin' we'd be better off dead
Don't feel like Satan, but I am to them
So I try to forget it, any way I can.

Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world.

I see a woman in the night
With a baby in her hand
Under an old street light
Near a garbage can
Now she puts the kid away, and she's gone to get a hit
She hates her life, and what she's done to it
There's one more kid that will never go to school
Never get to fall in love, never get to be cool.

Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world.

We got a thousand points of light
For the homeless man
We got a kinder, gentler,
Machine gun hand
We got department stores and toilet paper
Got styrofoam boxes for the ozone layer
Got a man of the people, says keep hope alive
Got fuel to burn, got roads to drive.

Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world.

If you consider laundering billions in drug money and financing death squads in Central America to be "community service."

NEIL Bush? God, how many of them are there? They're multiplying like turnips. D:

"Blind faith in your leaders, or in anything, will get you killed." Bruce Springsteen. Ironic, isn't it?
