after hearing Biden's comments on Obama being tested the first thing that came to my mind was Obama was planning a draft, and then I thought I was just being paranoid.

then a friend mentioned the same thing.

Unfortunately, I believe you are very likely correct about this. I will say right now that I will not stand for being drafted, though...I will be a conscientious objector. They can imprison me if they want, but I will not go and kill people in a politician's war.

As much as I hate to say it, I agree with you on this...after all, considering just how much the audacity of a draft would piss me off, I'm certain we'd be nowhere near alone in our outrage.

It seems like a lot of people are noticing the same kind of things...a looming threat of drafts, involuntary servitude of all types, etc.

I am not so sure of the outrage. FDR passed a draft in 1940-an election year-before the USA was even at war.

Contrast this to Canada and Australia-already at war in 1939-but no draft until 1943.

and Pelosi and Reid was support anything a President Obama (or a President McCain) would propose so long as the pork was there.

The thought of a draft didn't enter my mind, but I certainly see it as being plausible. Regardless, I will not go fight a politician's war.

If the next president keeps the wars going or expands them there will be no other recourse but to start the draft. Some of the soldiers in a military now have seen 3,4,5 tours. They have seen more years of combat than any other soldiers in the U.S. history. The American people are chosing these war leaders let them pay the price of war unstead of trying to keep the pool of servicemembers as small as possible to minimise the political fallout. Biden is counting on a big enough win that Obama's popularity can withstand the draft enactment.

I'm pretty certain he does, and I know I've read rumors of it in several places...actually, I think one of the articles we linked to in this thread mentions that prior to his Presidential ambitions, he was vocally in support of it (don't quote me on that, though).

I didn't even think of this one.. though it would not surprise me.. Obama has already said a draft may be necessary, and the rest of the crap about 'sharing the burden' or something like that, if we goto war, we ALL goto war.

The Obama drones are so convinced Obama is against war right now, if he were to be 'tested' with an 'assault' on our country- these Obama drones may end up thinking 'hey, if even OBAMA thinks we need to goto war and have a draft, then we MUST need it"..

I'd like to hope though that people will not be so willing to be drafted and sent overseas for this crap.. either way, my man will NOT be going- you can bet the house on that.

Ron Paul mentions indoctrination by government in his book The Revolution as wrong and unconstitutional. The government has no right to force people into a service beit a military one or other, say work camp?

I'm all in favor of a voluntary force as these are logically the most willing participants.

I hope Obama trys this. I agree this would help.
