DENVER - Barack Obama partied with Hollywood celebrities Tuesday night and with the help of Oscar-winning singer and actress Barbra Streisand raised an eye-popping $9 million for his presidential campaign and the Democratic Party.

The night was split into two glitzy events, a reception and dinner costing $28,500 each at the Greystone Mansion, followed by entertainment by Streisand at the nearby Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel. About 250-300 people were expected at the dinner and about 800 at the entertainment, which cost $2,500 a ticket.

Dinner guests seen by reporters, or noted by waiters, included Will Ferrell, Jodie Foster, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Lee Curtis and DreamWorks founders Steven Spielberg, David Geffen and Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Hmm, In this economy, unemployment, debt, wars, and fiscal collapse... glad to see the "So-Called" down to Earth Democrats have their priorities straight? Same 2 parties, Same Facade, Same Charade

Could someone pass the Lavishing Liberal Caviar and Crystal?

I'm confused. Doesn't McCain-Feingold (unconstitutionally) limit contributions to $2300 per individual per election cycle? How can people get away with writing $28,500 checks or even $2500?

RP's record is for a Primary race.

If there were actually fair elections and a free press in the US, Ron would be the nominee and would smash every attendance and fundraising record for a Presidential election campaign ever.

Those records would stand for all time because as POTUS Ron would bring sound money that would mean much lower prices from then on.

Bosso

It sure is easy to set new numerical records when the dollar ain't worth a dime any more.

Yes, it does.

I'm guessing the Obama campaign is going to be transferring the extra $25.5k to the DNC, who is really strapped for cash relative to the RNC.

It was a DNC fundraiser. $28,500 is the maximum that an individual can donate to a party in a calendar year.

It gets complicated, (natch, because the government is involved.)
