NYT on Paul/Romney relationship: Amid Rivalry, Friendship Blossoms on the Campaign Trail

No doubt. Pretty much every liberty person I know thinks Romney isn't as bad as Gingrich or Santorum. I agree. Of course, they are all bad. Ron Paul FTW!

I think he's just as bad as them.. Remember the debate where Willard said "I'd sign the NDAA with article 1021, no prob.. We need tools like this to fight terrorism" (paraphrasing).. He said without even thinking twice.. Like there was no issue there at all. Romney doesn't want to be president, he wants to be king!

Eh, but if I remember right, he said that in SC, AKA neocon central. They're into "Patriotic" stuff. LOL

Wow. Romney's actually....a genuinely nice person?

Romney is actually a nice guy- just needs a friend like Ron Paul to educate him on what real liberty is.

There is some hope where Mitt is concerned- I'm not voting for him- just sayin'.

Sure. He could be worse, though. He could be saying that there are terrorists in Central America and Cuba. He could be saying that terrorists may strike ND energy supplies and that we need to build more energy supplies in ND. I'm not saying Romeny is anything but awful. But I don't think he is as bad as Santorum (by far the worse, IMO) or "I would not support Paul if he were the nominee" Gingrich (he is insane, IMO.) Romney said he would support Paul. That means a lot to me. Romney stole Paul's line of cutting government by 10%. I like that he is stealing Paul's idea of cutting government workers instead of talking about increasing government, like Gingrich. It is cool that you disagree :)

This is what I'm saying. Romney knows what he is doing. His problem may end up being that he has to figure out what to do to appease Ron Paul's base of support. I keep imagining that maybe Ron Paul's message got through to him. He knows he has a general election to win, so he changes gradually, wins Ron Paul fans over, and eventually picks him as VP. I'm not saying this is what WILL happen, because RP still has a nomination to win, in my mind. But, what I am saying is that, If i were Romney, this would be my strategy.

Romney just wanted to be able to put up a sign that read 'President Ron Paul Slept Here' at his summer home.

Romney to Paul: "I call a truce and good will between our Campaigns."
Paul: "OK, I can agree to that."
Romney to Maine GOP: "Launch Operation: Vanishing Numbers"
Romney to Paul: "Good job in Maine. You almost got me."

That!

Nothing worse than having a knife stabbed in your back while your assailant smiles at you.

This is an establishment rag running an establishment "feel good" fluff piece to make an establishment man look good.

Don't be fooled.

Is Romney just a generally nicer guy, or is he merely intelligent in knowing that Santorum and Gingrich's blatant disrespect of Paul will lose them a fifth of the party while he might be able to salvage a decent chunk of them by being friendly? Who knows.

Heck, if Romney offered Paul a solid position in his administration on something economic, it might even make some of our diehards twitch.

It's just always good to try to do the right thing. Every decent human being knows this. Even if the intent is just for appearances.

Frankly, I think it's more of a move to try and get our support by Romney. Even if he gets the nomination, without us he's just another McCain, and he knows it. We shouldn't fall for it.

This.

Romney is a snake. Does anyone even remember his Ahmadinejad comment in 2008? Or his interview with mark larson? The guy is a scumbag and this is a standard psychological ploy to get us to be more open to him and vote for him as the nominee. Don't fall for it.

This doesn't make me change my opinion about Mr. Kill Muslims and take away our liberties candidate.... Ron Paul needs to go for the kill if he wants to be president and stop being to nice.... if he wants another cent out of my pocket he will have to go HARD after these hacks no more mr. nice guy if he wants to be president he has to expose these hacks speak up speak loud be heard! more ads against these bastards! come on!

+1

I'm glad there are at least some Paul-supporters who can think for themselves & aren't fawning over Bombney & the stupid Bombney/Paul rumors :(

Of the three other candidates, I think Romney is the most human. Gingrich is just a lying piece of dung and Santorum is a religious zealot hell bent on starting a nuclear WWIII. I think RP is growing on mittens in some ways, since RP is honest and genuine, and humans normally like, listen to, and learn from honest, genuine people.

He's dangerous. A wolf in sheeps clothing.

Romney is indeed a genuinely nice guy. I don't know what there isn't to believe about it. Doesn't mean his politics are good.

Yes a scumbag over one comment.

That's not an overreaction...

I find it dubious at best. I think Romney knows exactly what he's doing and no one should be surprised when we learn his friendly gestures are nothing more than calculated political moves.

I'm glad Dr. Paul turned down the offer to spend the night at the Romney house. He wouldn't be asleep ten minutes before Mitt would pop one of those Subliminal Self-Improvement cassettes into the tape deck. Maybe...."MKULTRA Made Easy", or "How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Big Brother"?

He turned down the plane home, and accepted the overnight stay.

:(
