Tonight I attended the Nueces County Republican Executive Committee Meeting.

Nueces County GOP precinct chairs voted to not hold precinct conventions. Delegates will be chosen at the Senate District 20 convention which is scheduled to be held at Moody Highschool on April 14th at noon.

Exact rules on how this will happen have not come out yet from the State GOP, but I will keep an eye out on it when it is put out. Apparently the precincts will still have voting power proportional to what they would get from precinct conventions.

There was also a motion passed to allow the primary committee to choose another location for this convention is some some unforeseeable reason Moody Highschool becomes unavailable for the convention. Such as in the event of a natural disaster. The skeptic in me thinks this could be a way to change the convention at the last minute to prevent some people from attending. I will try to keep a close eye on this.

If you want to be a delegate for Ron Paul April 14th is the day to show your support. You need to be a registered voter, and since this will happen before the actual primary on May 29th you will have to sign an oath stating that you will vote in the Republican Primary. Early voting for the Primary will be May 14th through May 24th. Run off elections will be on July 31st.

Because election day is after memorial day there might be a reduced turn get out and vote and vote early when possible, above all go the convention on April 14th.

On a side note when they drew for ballot position Ron Paul's name was drawn first. Myself and 2 other Precinct Chairs clapped.

Next were several that had already dropped out, then Romney. Most of the precinct chairs here apparently support him. Santorum, had about 3 showing support, and then finally New.

Senate District 20 also includes Jim Wells, Brooks, and about 70% of Hidalgo County.

If I've read correctly each of those counties will have their own Senate District 20 conventions so find out about them from the county GOP or someone in the know.
