Be aware that in some states, including Texas, casting a "write-in" vote is utterly meaningless as the votes aren't even counted.
You may as well write in "Mickey Mouse," because it will be as effective as writing in Ron Paul.
So for me, a write-in vote for Ron Paul is pointless.
I'll be voting for Libertarian Gary Johnson, because he is on the ballot, my vote will count, and even though he isn't 100% ideologically pure (nor is Ron Paul, for that matter), he's pretty close, and an excellent candidate.
