Not Voting at my Precinct and have already investigated other options.

Just wondering what you all thought on the matter..........In the 2010 elections here in S. Carolina I had to use the electronic voting machines............I was not too happy about that and asked a friend of mine who works for the S.C. Voters Registration if I had any options. My options are to come in early and vote in person at the offices in Columbia, absentee or the electronic voting machines at my precinct. According to my friend the precincts are not required to carry a certain amount of paper ballots, but should have a supply of them none the less. I am deciding on absentee or in person voting at the SCVR office in Columbia. I needn't go into detail on why I don't trust either the machines, and why I am of the mind to not necessarily trust those in charge of my local precincts voting machines, and I am by no means implying that my vote was changed or that a conspiracy exists in this state. Nevertheless I feel I have no option as my vote is sacred and I prefer to have it clearly put down on a paper ballot, and I will inquire as to whether I can have a photocopy of my ballot for my own personal records.

This is a great idea considering those crappy voting machines always do some glitchy stuff, I always hear comments afterward as to whether a voter "actually" voted their real vote. Since I'm fairly hard-core about a return to "Constitutional voting" (paper ballots, hand-counted in public [and I'd prefer "hand-counted, in public, at precinct"]). I'm not so sure we'll get very much certainty that our absentee votes will be counted fairly either.

Well, you must admit that (until they begin doing it by email) absentee balloting has the great advantage of leaving a paper trail. It's very hard to recount electrons. Even with one hell of a microscope.

Oklahoma still uses ballots. If they try to do away with this, there'll be a fight.

My advice to 'machine states' is vote absentee by certified mail, return receipt requested. Yeah, it's old school, but sometimes old school is too good to abandon.

Now there ya go....good idea. Perhaps if we overburden them with absentee ballots, it will send a message? Doubtful. But still worth the "accounting measure".
