North Carolina results thread

Here's something different. No flipping in North Carolina today. It was a total flat line:

IMPORTANT: If you live in NC, PLEASE call your county clerk responsible for elections and ask when the voting machine software was last updated. This is especially the case for the Central Tabulator.

Please get all the information you can about the Central Tabulator. It should be an SOE, but I need the exact software version, when it was updated, if anybody came around to do maintenance on it, what date, etc. Ask if the Central Tabulator computer is ever connected to the internet, if USB keys are occasionally plugged into it, if they use Anti-Virus software.

With Romney now the "Presumptive Nominee" it looks like they though it was a good idea to turn off the vote flipping. That's only going to get them into more trouble because it shows they have recently accessed the machine.

Edit: Updated chart with 100% of the data and including absentee votes.

CNN prediction on delegates:

Romney 36
Paul 6
Santorum 6
Gingrich 4

well the cool thing about this is that even with their ludicrous estimates of delegates, Ron is going to be over 100 now with these 6 and even just the Indiana delegate who was on automatically and didn't even have to run (too few ran in that district). Three digits looks better. Obviously, more would be better.

In the AP count at least. CNN has not changed any of their wrong caucus predictions in their count yet...

they have it up to 94 so plus 6 plus even just the 1 would be 101. If you hover your clicker over Maine they say Romney gets one delegate and Ron gets 21. They just don't color the state for him, I mean heaven forbid.....

5,2% of the voters have decided to vote for "No Preference" in NC... unusual high I would say.

True. Even during the McCain nomination, "No Preference" was 4%.

Romney only get 67%, and I think McCain got 71%.

The GOP will face an enthusiasm gap with Romney.

That's a lot of delegates for Santorum and Gingrich...

I know their names will be on the ballot for California and Texas, but what about beyond that? Does anyone know yet?

Over 100,000 dumbasses voted for two people who aren't even running anymore. Is this their protest vote?

The problem for us yesterday, is that the marriage amendment was up for a vote; so all the brain dead came out for their church to vote against same sex marriages. While they were at it, they decided to vote for President and probably unaware Santorum and Gingrich are no longer in the race, lol.

People here all the time say "no one but Paul" and declare they'll vote for Paul in November even if he's not on the ballot. Why is it unfathomable to think that some people might like Santorum or Gingrich, but not Paul/Romney, and cast their vote accordingly?
Because these guys they're voting for are not that great. They're not even any good. It's unfathomable that anyone would vote for Santorum or Gingrich, stop. Period.

...What? It's 'unfathomable' that people don't agree with you and actually like Santorum and Gingrich? On its face that is absolutely ridiculous...

Yes. Try listening to these morons for two hours each. Try reading their books. You will want to blow your brains out.

It's completely and totally unfathomable that they have not yet been kicked out of the species, much less that anyone can stand to speak to or associate with them in any way, and much much less that anyone could actually be in favor of their continued existence, and much much much much less that anyone could actually want them in a leadership position of any type, even head dogcatcher.

I personally don't like the two- I know Santorum somewhat well, and he's actually a pretty bitter man- but each individual has a complex set of experiences that shapes their worldview. There are a lot of things throughout history that I find difficult to believe were ever considered rational, but large societies at one point did. Thus it is not only understandable, but expected that some people would find things attractive that you and I don't.

When Ron is running it takes most of the oxygen and that is the truth. It was retrospectively not a good time to change offices. Two years from now Ron won't be running, but Gunny might not be available. Dammit.

Glen had no choice. He was drawn out of his House district by House Republican leadership in a deliberate effort to get rid of him. He HAD to run for a different office, and this one seemed the most winnable. When he first declared for it, there were no other Republicans gunning for it. When it became clear that he might defeat the Democrat, the former policy advisor of the House Majority Leader filed, and the Party quietly backed him. They were determined to get rid of Glen.

I talked to Steve on the phone a few days ago; he was pleasantly surprised when he was polling 12-13% more than his opponent Frank Roche. Roche is running this big campaign and taking donations; Steve has a simple website and some simple hand out cards, and real solutions for the Economy. So, at least for this race, it seems that real ideas beat out big money. (If only this was true in the Presidential race...)

I was surprised by this, too. The only explanation I have is that Frank Roche is an insufferably arrogant horse's ass and that comes across in person. I suspect that most voters he met were turned off by his horrible personality.
