I voted for Paul today.

On a sort of bright note Steve Royal is winning the State Treasurer race. I voted for him because he did have on his website he was anti-FED.

i dont want to blame the voters... but i wish they at least dig a little deeper to figure out who the hell is still in the race. wish we could secede from the union.

100,000 is a lot of protest/ill-informed voters.

I suspect most know they dropped out. What they DON'T yet know is that it actually matters which protest vote they cast, that Romney can be stopped if they vote for Paul. Or at least his delegates.

Over 100,000 dumbasses voted for two people who aren't even running anymore. Is this their protest vote?

People here all the time say "no one but Paul" and declare they'll vote for Paul in November even if he's not on the ballot. Why is it unfathomable to think that some people might like Santorum or Gingrich, but not Paul/Romney, and cast their vote accordingly?

Exactly. THese people are hypocrites. They say they will write in Paul if they have to. Yet when someone votes for a candidate ON the ballot even though they dropped out (which would be the same if Ron wasn't on the ballot in November and didn't run 3rd party), they get mad. No standards or principles among people.

because Santa had 2 % for the longest time and went up and down interchangably with Grinch, Cain, Bachmann, etc.

However, since NC is winner take all, they might have figured Romney is getting it anyhow, and in NCs case, I agree. if they turned out specifically for the gay marriage thing, then.....

so... in other words, no way in hell we can win any beauty contest/primary because the vote is split and siphoned off into santorum and gingrich.
i see the establishment has mastered the controlling of the voting population and manipulate them to get the results they want.

what a horrible, broken system we have. im surprised that USA had not collapsed sooner from all the corruption and bullcrap that goes on in the government/policies.

It seems unfathomable to me that people can like Santorum or Gingrich.

I talked to Steve on the phone a few days ago; he was pleasantly surprised when he was polling 12-13% more than his opponent Frank Roche. Roche is running this big campaign and taking donations; Steve has a simple website and some simple hand out cards, and real solutions for the Economy. So, at least for this race, it seems that real ideas beat out big money. (If only this was true in the Presidential race...)

Takes a certain amount of conviction to support Paul in the first place. Requires none to support Santorum/Gingrich/Romney/etc

...since NC is winner take all, ...

Greenpapers says NC is proportional

Tuesday 8 May 2012 (tentative): 52 of North Carolina's 55 delegates to the Republican National Convention are allocated to presidential contenders based on the results of the voting in today's North Carolina Primary.

The State Chairman shall allocate Delegate positions between the Candidates accurately reflecting the division of votes in the statewide primary. Each person nominated as a Delegate at either the District or State Convention must have publicly declared as a representative of a Candidate on the Presidential Preference Primary ballot prior to the election of Delegates to the National Convention. [North Carolina Republican Party Plan of Organization. ARTICLE VII. F.] [North Carolina General Statutes, specifically Section 163-213.8]
The "Uncommitted" position, not being a candidate, might not receive any delegates.
The 3 party leaders, the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the North Carolina's Republican Party, will attend the convention as unbound delegates by virtue of their position.

Ugh...Santorum actually beat RP for 2nd in my county and he's not even running!

F*** this state!

N.C. is proportional, and forunately Ron got 11.6% which is what he needed to hold the six delegates that are openly declared from the district conventions. Yeah we'd all like to have won some more of them, but it is what it is.

Ron was not advertising here and the anti-Romney vote got split up among too many options. Although... Romney fared worse than McCain did, by a few percentage points.

Well, if we made our threshold, that is a big deal.

From 'First in Freedom' to 'First in Fascism.' I've done my part playing 'Mr. Nice guy' for Ron Paul in N.C. Gloves are off now. Meet me behind the shed.

Ron Paul did win precinct 141 in Mecklenburg county. (32 Paul, 26 Romney). This is where the University of NC Charlotte is.
