Noam Chomsky on Ron Paul & his supporters

As a former Democrat I completely agree. The way to get liberals to begin to see the light is to show them that we have a common enemy which is corporatism and the only solution is the free market. Government will always be the tool of the power elite

If there is something you know, pass it along. I have tried my damnedest to get a number of Democrats at other websites (not predominantly political per se) to understand that Corporatism =/= Capitalism. I have posted links from LewRockwell.com, Mises.org and other sites as well as videos trying to illustrate this fact. Every time I run up against a stonewall of sheer ignorance and its frustrating to say the least. Thankfully, there are some who have responded positively to some speeches by Ron (such as the recent 'Ground Zero' Mosque brouhaha), but it seems like I have an uphill battle.

I hate that JBS video bashing anarchism. If someone says that kind of stuff, then I frankly don't care to hear their opinions at all.

Right.

But your idea that they can't think for themselves is not completely true. I have a close 'leftist' who watches Maher/Colbert and listens to all that shit about teabaggers are racists etc... and truly believes it. I think there is a deeper issue.

I believe the divide that is created between the left/right becomes soooo deep and wide that even when a wise thought comes thru, it can't breach that divide.

For instance, the Mosque debate. Such a small matter becoming HUGE NEWS. Deepening and widening the divide further till the truth is not even what matters.

Also, "No aid to israel". I am sure jewish voters make up a very very small pool for repubs compared to other voting pools.. so if it is "his foreign policy". Who drives this and associates this "aid" to the right?

Three huge problems with the left I've noticed:

(1) cerebrally paralyzed by the natural inequalities that characterize the human condition
(2) view man only though the prism of material needs
(3) so confident in their superiority that they have no qualms about micromanaging others' lives. this befalls some members of the right but nowhere to such a large degree.

The following quote illustrates what we're up against these days as far as the rank and file GOP goes:

"It's always been my understanding that Neocons are simply Conservatives who believe that the United States is in fact the "shining beacon on the hill" in that we are an example for the rest of the world to follow-- but also that we have the moral imperative to help the rest of the world to attain what we have. By proactively helping to liberate the people of the world, we are satisfying the highest calling of a true democracy, and also reflecting the absolute best parts of the Christian mission in the world."

Neocons exploit mainstream conservatives' good will and reverence for military traditions. It's quite simple to understand the dynamic at work. Do you really think they would knowingly send their sons and husbands into in long, grueling military campaigns if they knew the truth? These global misadventures are more or less imperial conquests with no possible resolution or attainable victory. The military industrial complex simply fattens itself on the American taxpayer as well as the new-found resources of the unfortunate target country.

Why do you even give them the ammo in the first place and expect them not to use it? They couldn't go globetrotting without a Standing Army.
