If I couldn't write in Ron Paul, I would vote for Obama for two reasons.
1) Payback for the lovely treatment Ron Paul and his supporters have been given by the GOP.
2) If there is a 2016 (yes, things do look that bad to me sometimes), someone running on the Republican ticket could have a chance. It would be nice if we could break our left/right conditioning by then as a nation, but it would be a stretch, considering the fluoridated, MSG-filled brains of most Americans. (I wish we could save them.) I still see the two-party system in place in another four years, as our intelligence isn't growing as fast as the tyranny.
We're all scattering to the wind, it seems. But I'm a NOBPer ... regardless of how helpful that is. I'm not going around screaming it and trying to hold anything or anyone hostage. Like others have mentioned, it's just a fact.
Right! It is not a threat or a meant to make people mad, it is just a fact. Ron Paul supporters are overwhelmingly voting for no one but Ron Paul in November.
Should Rosa Parks have been a team player and moved to the back of the bus? How about James Meredeth? What if he had decided to accept his lot as a black man and not even try to enter college? Nelson Mandela...should he have tried to compromise with the "existing system" and "gotten along"? Gandhi struggled to alleviate poverty, liberate women and put an end to caste discrimination, and achieved self-rule for India. Should he instead have become a TEAM PLAYER? And worked with that "establishment"?
Rosa Parks, James Meredith, Nelson Mandela, Gandhi and Martin Luther King certainly would have been LESS HATED had they not pushed for their principles despite long odds, rejection, and in some cases imprisonment because of their stances.
Where would the world be if they had not hung onto their integrity and fought for their cause?
The general public is ALWAYS slow to accept new truths. Look how long it took before people believed the world wasn't flat?
Voting for a candidate who advocates violating the constitution or his Oath of Office would be like Ron Paul voting for the Patriot Act, NDAA or War with Iran. He won't and I won't.
You don't give up WHEN you are in the right--and we are.
In my opinion.
Before you decide not to vote in November, I recommend you at least wait to see who the LP and CP candidates are. Also, there may be an independent that gets on the ballot on your state.
At minimum, please show up to vote for liberty candidates down ballot.
I'll support Ron if he's on any ballot. And if he's not, I'll support Gary Johnson on the Libertarian card. I don't think that writing in Paul is useful.
I don't think this is something the Official Campaign should do, however I do think this is a point that should be made on a personal level to GOP voters who we know that just want to defeat Obama.
Keep in mind
Self-identified Republicans represent just 27 percent of the electorate, compared with 31 percent who identify as Democrats and a record-high 40 percent who call themselves independents.
The GOP simply needs the cross over vote to win (actually either party does but the GOP needs it somewhat more).
In the most recent polls among Indies only two POTUS candidates score positively among Independent voters, Obama and Paul.
This is a message we should all be spreading among GOP voters we know who's main focus is electing a candidate who can beat Obama, because whether it's broadly admitted and understood or not for the GOP this election to beat Obama there really is No One But Paul
I voted for Ron in 1988 and wrote him in in 2008. Hopefully I will get to vote for him again this year, if not, write in for me. I want to be able to say I FULLY supported RP every chance I got. No selling out.
NOBP
You cannot draw massive crowds like he does, and the others draw flies and then they win by landslides.
You cannot draw massive crowds like he does, and the others draw flies and then they win by landslides.
The ability to draw people for a rally is no indication of the volume of support, only the level of enthusiasm.
Drawing big crowds means nothing. Back in 1999 I supported Nader. I attended a rally at Madison Square Garden that holds 23,000 people. It was sold out for $20 a head with an overflow of over 3,000 people outside who stayed there the entire time playing music, beating drums, marching with signs and chanting political slogans.
So what is Ron Paul drawing? 2,000-4,000? Nader was drawing rutinely four to five times that number and he was charging. In fact, Nader was out drawing both Bush and Gore by a factor of five and they weren't charging admission while Nader was charging $10-$20 per head to get into his rallies.
Nader got less than 1% of the vote in 2000.
No doubt it seems that our candidate is out drawing Santorum, Romney and Gingich but the fact is, it's not translating into votes for some reason. This needs to be corrected
I've always interpreted the "No one but Paul" thing as referring to the Republican nomination. There are other liberty candidates that I could support for president.
Yep! I totally agree.. I have said before that there are a lot of similarities between us and Deadheads. I should know. I've seen over 200 shows from coast to coast.Capt. Shays, your icon says it all. Ron Paul is the Dead of politics. Tons of loyal fans that will be willing to travel to see him. Able to pack the arenas he appears in, but doesn't translate into numbers when it counts. Just like the boys could do a 3 night run in NYC and sell out every night, but could barely get an album to chart in the top 20.
NO ONE BUT PAUL--IT'S THAT IMPORTANT
