Picked up a t-shirt for myself and one for my girlfriend. Don't forget that all merchandise counts toward the moneybomb!

Yeah those people that do that actually cost the campaign money. They still get charged credit card transaction fees on those. Shameful. Also sickening. I hope the campaign releases who that person really is.

How are they able to get the transaction to go through with the wrong name or can they choose what name they want to display?

They can. Mitt Romney, Herman Cain, and Rick Perry all appeared on the ticker in one of last year's moneybombs.

Are you certain that is the case, and if so, how?

Any time a card is charged (whether it is a legitimate charge or not), the retailer/merchant/etc is charged for the transaction fee. Now if the transaction doesn't go through, is declined on the spot, then the merchant/retailer/etc is not charged. So when you mistype your credit card # on the donation site, it will decline it or say invalid info (something of the like) or if you are over the max. However, if it posts to the ticker, it went through. It charged the card. The transaction was made and the campaign will be charged the fee.

I am pretty darn certain. I was a part owner in a restaurant and we had online ordering.

Thanks for the response. I thought there may be an option to choose how you want your name to be displayed, but may it is to choose only to display it or not to display it.

If they do have to return those donations it is unfortunate, but I doubt people are doing it knowing that it will be returned and the campaign charged, more likely that they just think it will look cool or funny.
