Nikki Haley appoints Tim Scott to US Senate

I know Tim Scott and like him as a person but I wouldn't vote for him under any circumstances. Ever.

Why is that? I have no idea what she stands for. Scott has a record of being somewhat OK. He certainly isn't a liberty person but I'm thinking he will likely be in the top 25 of least bad US Senators.

I assume Sanford might be influenced by the former hubby.

She might also be influenced by her son, who last time I heard, was a Ron Paul supporter. Unfortunately she said that her son was a little naive about foreign policy, IIRC.

We simply need to cut to the chase from now on, and ONLY favor or watch politicians who are CLEARLY foreign policy non-interventionists in their 'liberty' inclinations. Those candidates who are aligned with the defense industry and AIPAC lobbyists are compelled to take too many anti-liberty positions, from being pro-war, entirely one-sided about the Mid-east, against applying a single drop of cuts to the military budget, against repealing the NDAA et al, etc, to be of use in fundamentally reforming the system.

We don't have to work on bringing in Tea Party people, they have already made their bed with the establishment and are being appointed to office where they are of use to the elite. We need to work on our side to make sure more true pro-peace people are put into office.

Good luck finding anyone that can win. Jim DeMint was not an ally of liberty in 2004 but 8 years later has made many strides, and he has been Rand's most powerful ally on many issues. Tim Scott is a freshman. Rather than be put off by him, we should encourage him to work with us and take him under our wing, not Lindsey Graham. How many of us started out our political interests as non-interventionists? Views can change over time, and a Tea Party freshman who is not happy with the establishment and fully committed to fiscal issues is one we can work with.

Easier said than done when you're not a politician. Odds suggest that he'll conform with the Tea-O-Cons. And fiscal issues don't mean much when you're a proponent of allowing the military to continually run off with trillions of dollars.
