NH - Keene will get its armored cop tank after all.

I live in NH, I know the town of Keene (so do you, it's where Jumanji was filmed) and there is NO legitimate reason for the town police force to have an APC, other than to terrorize or intimidate people.

Oh, come on AF! You just totally undermined your own argument. If you've got a Jumanji going down, you NEED A FUCKIN' TANK! Hell, you need snatch teams to round up and Gitmo all those Jumanjiists! Or better yet, relocate them to the current Middle east hot spot... :D

That said, and knowing that towns reputation, anyone want to start a betting pool as to how long it will take that tank to look something like this?:

The way to put this thing on a leash is simple! Flyers! I'd say about 500-1,000 would do and not handed out but stapled or glued to utility poles.

I remember we had a thread here were we got specs on this beast, and I believe it was determined that the roof and floor could be penetrated with lowly .308, the sides with .50 and it was vulnerable to being tipped over or some Gulliver Travel style bondage with the help of grappling hooks.... Tips might also be given as to turning one into a huge oven for the next BBQ. So yes, drawings pointing out all it's weak spots would be great!

David's Toolkit might offer some inspiration for flyer content, also:

The public might also declare certain "hunting seasons" for it, perhaps paint balloons in the spring and a target for catapult launched pumpkins during Pumpkin fest! Yeah! - that's the ticket!

I think the city counsel and the cops would have a major attitude adjustment if the public was educated on how to take their new toy out.

A recall election for everyone that voted for it would also be called for.

Is this more a tank or armored carrier? How resistant is it to fire, while parked, in a depot, at night?

Like a super brinks armored truck designed for rescue and murder purposes. It is military colored. It looks like this. It is stored at the police station so it cannot be reached except by cops.

Stored outside? A wrist rocket and small bags of birdseed might give it a nice zebra doo....

The minor TV station in NH covered the showing of the BEARCAT to the public in Keene. There is even video of Pete, a co-founder of Cop Block and Ian, the founder of Free Talk Live, Free Keeene and LRN.FM.

WBIN-TV Reports on the BEARCAT Unveiling

WMUR’s got competition. WBIN-TV is new to New Hampshire and is already making a splash in the news scene by showing up where WMUR won’t. I was at the unveiling of the BEARCAT almost the entire time, and I did not see a WMUR reporter there at any point. However, WBIN reporter (and Keene-area native) Garrett Brnger was there and reported on both sides of the BEARCAT issue, interviewing CopBlock.org‘s Pete Eyre and yours truly:

I don't know how to post the video here so you need to click on the Free Keene link to see it. http://freekeene.com/2013/01/09/wbin-tv-reports-on-the-bearcat-unveiling/

As long as we are on the subject of how to damage this thing.Hitting the tires with some molotovs or if you can make home-made napalm should do the trick pretty fast.

I am pretty sure 1,000s of these have been given to towns, cities and colleges across the country. Just for the record, I have no interest in damaging any of the BEARCATS or much larger vehicles, which are also being given to communities across the US.

I think the city should auction off hour long stints in the local mud bogs so the public can enjoy this fine piece of equipment...

All proceeds going to pro-liberty causes of course..

Why, oh why would the Federal Government pay small towns to militarize their police departments?

Why, oh why... I wonder....

Why, oh why... are they at the same time telling me I don't need an assault rifle...

Why, oh why...

Foogas

I will wait till it is in my driveway to decide.
It's a toss-up between disabling and re-appropriating.

immediate inclination leans toward disabling.
