I apologize if posted earlier, I did a search but came up empty.
The former House speaker, who is putting a campaign organization together on the fly, failed to qualify for the contest in the Show Me State.

According to the Missouri Secretary of State's office, Gingrich did not file the necessary papers as of Tuesday's 5 p.m. deadline. That means his name will not be on the Feb. 7 ballot.

I wonder if he failed to file in other states as well?

I could swear McCain failed ballot deadlines in a state or two last cycle and shenanigans allowed him on..

having trouble finding the links right now.. :\

This is maybe more telling than it appears. Maybe Newt truly is running only to thwart any anti-establishment candidates. ;) He would then make a graceful exit and endorse Mitt. This is just the conspiracy theorist in me though.

Cool. Here were the results from a recent "Tea Party" Straw Poll:

TOTAL STATEWIDE VOTES = 995

HERMAN CAIN....320 (32%)
RON PAUL....282 (28%)
NEWT GINGRICH....276 (28%)
MITT ROMNEY....32 (3%)
MICHELE BACHMANN...31 (3%)
RICK PERRY....30 (3%)
RICK SANTORUM....13 (1%)
OTHERS....(+/-2%)

No Newt = good for us. Although, by the time the primary and caucus rolls around I imagine he would have already self-deflated anyway (Herman Cain too).

But Moussori primary is does not count for anything, as they have a caucus later, if i remember correctly.

It is better to have a race with more Establishment candidates in it. It splits up their vote a little better.

If Newt drops out, how likely are we to get the majority of his supporters? Not very. Newt needs to stay in the race.

Not if Newt is endorsed by the evangelicals and there are rumblings he will be. This would hurt us, especially in Iowa where 60 percent of Republican primary voters identify as born-again Christians.
Evangelicals for Ron Paul founding member Brian Jacobs affirmed his past observations that the unimpeachable integrity of Dr. Paul resonates among conservative Christians.

”Ron Paul is comfortable proclaiming that he accepts Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He is happily married to his childhood sweetheart Carol. And his stance on the sanctity of life is positively unassailable,” said Jacobs, alluding to the fact that Dr. Paul is a retired OB-GYN who personally delivered more than 4,000 babies.

It is absolutely amazing to me that any evangelical would consider voting for Noot.
I agree, but a lot of these people are single issue voters. That single issue is the pro life issue. Gingrich is a good enough liar and with the media his complicit partner, can surely make himself out to be a saint. I feel Gingrich is going to be a huge obstacle in our winning Iowa if he gets the endorsement of the evangelical leaders. We need to take him down.
Gingrich’s secret weapon: Evangelicals?

First, he is the only candidate who has systematically, passionately, and substantively taken up every issue that is dear to evangelicals. He has promised to immediately issue executive orders ending taxpayer funding for overseas abortions. He vowed to restore the protections for health care workers who choose not to perform abortions. Another would move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The other candidates make general statements about social issues but don’t offer a plan of action…

The second reason is the “born-again” experience and how that makes it easy for evangelicals to look past his marital history. The experience is based in confessing personal failings and discovering a life-changing relationship with God. Most evangelicals relate more to someone who has fallen and redeemed himself than to someone who grew up in faith and has never known much else…

Last, the economy is the number one issue for evangelicals like everyone else. They want a candidate from their ranks, but substance plays a huge role in their decision. They want a commander-in-chief, but one who values the importance of faith in leadership.

Gingrich: I didn’t want to qualify for Missouri ballot

In a press conference in New York City today, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich declared that he never intended to qualify for the ballot in Missouri and that failing to meet the deadline was “a conscious decision, not an oversight.” Seth Wenig AP Republican presidential candidate, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump shake hands after they met and spoke to the media in New York.

The primary is non-binding; it is followed a month later by caucuses where Missourians pick their convention delegates. But every other major candidate is participating in the primary, which gives the public an idea of where Show Me State voters stand.

“We have never participated in beauty contests,” Gingrich said when asked about his failure to qualify for the ballot. “We didnt participate in Ames [the Iowa straw poll], we didnt participate in P5 [a Florida straw poll].”

A Gingrich campaign spokesman previously argued that the campaign skipped Missouri because of the high filing fee.

But failing to qualify for the ballot was widely seen as a sign of Gingrich’s lack of campaign organization.

Another sign is the papers he filed in New Hampshire. His papers were sloppily written in pen and he fell 13 short of the required 40 delegates.

Bullshit. i was at the straw poll in georgia, and newt was the only one there, and gave a speech.

Gringrich can't compete in a beauty contest because he's an ugly as shit. And I mean that inside and out. Then again, I think that's being a little judgmental; it's hard to look good when you're the product of a sheep humping a dead raccoon on the side of the road.
