Newt Gingrich thinks Rand Paul will sway 90% of Ron Paul Supporters to Vote for Romney

Honestly, I don't think Rand wants any of us to vote for Mittens. He just can't say that because it's not in his playbook. I think we're kind of supposed to read between the lines and get this. The bigger the crash-and-burn for the GOP in 2012, the better for Rand's future. He knows this and hopes we know it.

Lots of moon jokes in the thread. Folks shouldn't joke about things they know nothing about. In fact, I'd put a tenth grader up against any of the folks who are so wise that they think they know a thing or three about real change.

But by all means, continue to poke fun at the politicians. sleeeep...

He cheated, flat cheated Ron out of two states, LA and ME. With those we'd have had the 8 states even the NEW rules were changed to after Ron got 6. And they had tried to pass a 10 state minimum for nomination, and it didn't pass in rules committee.

Ron was cheated out of more than that, Oregon and OK etc, but there was a little more confusion and they had more deniability. On LA and ME, there was no excuse.

So now we are supposed to vote for someone who 'governs' that way?

The Grinch must be joking.

Almost every Ron Paul supporter/voter I speak to are voting for Romney. The anti-Obama vote is BIG out there.

The only Paul supporters that aren't voting for Romney are the very hardcore which represent about 10% of Paul's base. This idea that all Paul supporters are hardcore is a myth propagated by many on the internet.

Hey, Newton.

What would you predict if Ron Paul ran as a Libertarian? Hmmmm?

This is a very salient point. I also believe that a lot of folks liked Paul but will end up voting Mittens. Just don't know what percentage. Wished there was some poll information on this subject. But my intuition is that it is far less than the 90% you are suggesting.

I could vote for GJ... but his campaign is bleeding red ink all over the place. One of the coolest things about RP is no matter what policy disagreements you had with someone you could always say "Vote for the person who can at least keep a campaign out of debt".

I am not some tool of a politician to be manipulated toward certain candidates. Good luck with trying to get me to vote for obamney.

Maybe Newt is trying to set Rand up as the fall guy for Romney's loss: "Rand COULD HAVE convinced the paulites to support Romney, but he didn't. Therefore, Rand is a bad boy.

Rand cannot convince this voter to vote Romney.

Ron got some soft support. In February he had 21% in the Reuters national poll in second place. Some of that wasn't as firm as his 'constant' base, but those who don't shift between candidates constantly are unlikely to go there, imho, particularly after RNC.
