Newt Gingrich: OK, so maybe neoconservatism isn't working after all...

I just realized I don't hear that many people actually say "I am a neoconservative."

You know what way the wind is blowing when this POS is on board with a new (old) idea.

Lordy, next thing he will tell us is that he thinks Ron Paul should have been president.

Newt is an absolute snake and a cunning opportunist. In various crowds, he's called himself a conservative, an ardent admirer of FDR, and a "Robert LaFolette progressive." Whatever you do, don't let him sucker you into thinking he's one of us.

The reason they call Satan the Prince of Lies is because the title King of Lies was reserved for Newt Gingrich.

never trust that chameleon, the same guy pushing for Clinton's impeachment while dilly dallying with ladies,
he is just trying to plant his foot on this boat, in case this one overtakes the establishment !

...or a congressman.

[h=1]Newt Gingrich tried to prevent Ron Paul's 1996 return to Congress.[/h]
Paul had decided to run for Congress in 1996 after a ten year absence. Gingrich went to great lengths to try to stop Paul in Republican primary. Ron Paul's primary opponent, incumbent Greg Laughlin, was a former Democrat. Newt Gingrich recruited Laughlin to the Republican camp in 1995 by promising him a position in the Republican controlled US House. Gingrich recruited fifty congressmen and then Texas Governor George W. Bush to endorse Laughlin over Paul.
Ron Paul dug up statements by Gingrich and the RNCC attacking Laughlin in 1994. He published these statements in newspaper ads. Paul also enlisted the aid of Pat Buchanan, Nolan Ryan, and Steve Forbes for his campaign.
Paul won the primary and went on to win the general election. He has retained the seat ever since.

Yes! Also, isn't he known to have bad blood with a lot of D.C. insiders? And possible cause for a vendetta? What better way than to attach himself to a nascent movement that could seize power from the old guard?

If we can use him fine, but Newt is so smart, remember? If I can go on YouTube and listen to Irving Kristol and know all about Neo-Conservatism then we should assume Newt knows as well and has known all along, which means in his heart he always has been a Trotskyist. Which means he has always been a communist and if you look at his long voting record it's not that difficult to wrap your head around.

Yeah that's what I thought too. No politician calls themselves that in public interviews. "Bush Doctrine"...."Interventionist".....but never neocon.

At least he's the first mainstreamer that has been talking about reconsidering the warfare state. I don't trust him but I welcome his bullshit if it serves us.

He's a politician. He's "one of us" in every instance in which "us" holds an opinion that is politically expedient.

This is what winning looks like.

I don't trust Newt just as I don't trust Glenn Beck, but I am glad to see them make comments that reject neoconservatism and support non-interventionist ideas. I hope Newt does more of this. We need more voices rejecting neocons and supporting libertarian concepts. This will continue and help Rand win the nomination.

“It may be that our capacity to export democracy is a lot more limited than we thought,” he said.

He actually said that.... not a typo.

He actually admitted they "thought they could export democracy"

BTW I loved Newt's forward to the book "Third Wave"... who needs a Constitution anymore, anyway...

Bandwagon effect at work

Exactly. Barring any unforeseen events, Newt's career in electoral politics is over. He is a pundit now. So does he come out against what is obviously a growing movement in the GOP (and could possibly be the wing that takes over the party in the next few years) or does he come out in support of it? When it comes to speaking engagement, TV appearances, writing articles and all the other ways Newt will earn income in the near future, it only makes sense for him to do a mea culpa and come out in support of pro-liberty positions and politicians.

That being said - good for us, this is what winning is like.
