Newsweek: GOP Should Look For A Ron Paul-Type

And the very first comment shows why it will never work:

I agree. I like Ron Paul, but he’s not the most effective messenger sometimes. But the worst thing about him is his most enthusiastic followers.

The GOP is screwed. Don't move toward Paul, you lose all the libertarians. Move towards Paul, you lose all the neo-cons. The GOP is a dead party, the sooner we all move on the better.

What???

Well Ron Paul type as far as his son? Granted Ron is getting up in years, and will be difficult for him at this juncture; but someone he endorses and he campaigns for should have a serious shot.

Just remember, the Rudy's, McCain's, GOP's; are all showboaters. There is not one ounce of difference between the DNC and the GOP. Both groups are owned by the same foreign interests. The GOP will keep putting up worthless candidates until their contract is up with the DNC, and time for the GOP to take over for a while. So the article means well, but we are just puppets in elections which have been pre-determined. I mean, would you have ever in your wildest dreams have thought a black dude from another country would now be your President? If you don't see that was pre-determined, I'm not quite sure what it would take. And who put him there was Rudy, Huckabee and Insane (the GOP's beautiful stars).

And if anything can make us laugh, is that FOX is reporting that Dick Cheney might run? Oh Gawwwwwwwwwwd...... a certain victory for Obama-Rama in 2012... That is just enough time for Obama to wipe the USA off the map.

I believe what _27_ was saying is:

IF you don't move toward Paul THEN you lose all of the libertarians.

IF you move toward Paul THEN you lose all of the neocons.

Sometimes having a computer background makes communicating with people easier. ;) (IF - THEN statements)

You should ignore Matt Hurtt. He has a personal axe to grind against Matt Collins. Not exactly sure why.

Did I speak too fast for you? Or are you telling me that if they prop up another McCain in '12 you're going to vote for him?

No, it's what you said that was confusing. You said...

"Don't move toward Paul, you lose all the libertarians."

Why would moving TOWARD Paul, lose all the libertarians? It should be just the opposite.

See JMDrake's comment...maybe you should concentrate on communicating more clearly rather than making smartass remarks about people who don't interpret your unclear writing correctly.

seriously. I think he/she thinks they are better cause they are a mod. Not the first time ive seen that attitude, just the first time I said something about it.

Huh? I wasn't the one who made the comment they are talking about

This is a very confusing thread. lol

I need coffee. :).

How many 3rd party candidates in Congress? How many 3rd party Presidents? How many here followed or even heard of Paul's Presidential run in 1988. Would there even be a Ron Paul movement if he ran on a 3rd party ticket in 2008?

The system is rigged. The establishment would love nothing more than for the liberty movement to vacate the GOP.

Because he doesn't play well with others. I'm really not sure what his problem is but I've been told by several people who have known him longer than I have that he has serious attitude / relationship issues. That and he is just out of college and thinks because he has a pol sci degree he is the only one qualified to speak. Plus he likes to kiss the backside of the establishment.

Oh and he got the TN Legislature to pass a resolution congratulating him on his graduation:

Rude comment

Rude comment. I'm not communicating clearly? Who should "see JMDrake's comment? Your sentence lacks a directive subject. Maybe I should concentrate on communicating more effectively? Maybe as in, possibly? So possibly I shouldn't? Sentence needs more clarification.

I can see how you could read that as, "Don't move toward Paul [because] you [will] lose all the libertarians", but judging by the context, I think he meant, "[If you] don't move toward Paul, you lose all the libertarians."

I've been saying this all along. We need to stop "changing hearts and minds" and leave these old geezers. Our greatest potential is that we are young and we are many. We all need to start voting LP. All of us. We will kill 2 birds with one stone. First, we will actually achieve something, as we will have enough numbers to have if not a Libertarian Prez, then at least a couple of Libertarian Senators and Congressmen. Second, we will put a third party on the map as a serious contender.

we need a new party with a new platform, that unites the lp/cp/ron paul republicans and ron paul supporters across all party lines... i was lp for along time. the reality is the lp/cp need a new brand name and platform.
what we need is a platform and party that can unite voters, we will need a new brand name and platform ,if the gop does not shape up. i am not to concerned with palin/neo-cons. they can form a 3rd party and be like the lp. i am all for a new party platform, but i do not see the lp or cp becoming forces in politics until they unite under a ron paul platform. Liberty Party. we need a party that the dems and reps have not marginalized and if we form a new party and they attack. then they only atack former republicans and dems. We need to unite the 3rd parties and ron pauls platform proved it could be done. the hard part is getting the leaders of the lp/cp/tp on the same page.
