Newspaper Strategy + Every Newspaper In SC

More statements for the ad:

"Ron Paul voted in Congress to authorize the President to pursue and bring to justice Osama bin Laden and those responsible for the attack on the WTC on 9/11. He did not vote for the War in Iraq in 2002 and rose to speak out in Congress agansit an unjustified, undeclared act of war. Ron Paul values our national security and will act as President to protect our nation from terrorist attacks by not intervening in internal affairs of other countries and by bringing our troops home to secure our country."

I think this is great to add because we want to alleviate concerns that leaving the Middle East would leave us vulnerable - staying makes us vulnerable.

If anyone has any relevant, short Ron Paul quotations that pertain to these statements, please contribute them. :)

I've sent an email to the Charleston City Paper asking about what rate to expect if we were to have them insert this for us, just to gain a preliminary idea of what we are looking at. This company linked to earlier, http://www.taradel.com/ can produce for us 10,000 for $131. I'm wondering how many we would be circulating if we ran in the Charleston City Paper on one day (I'm just using it as an example)... It is published every Wednesday and has a circulation of 40,000. We'd only be able to run that on the 16th... three days beforehand. If we ran the glossy color insert, it would cost us $500 to produce the inserts, plus the rate which hopefully they get back to me about....

Should we run the insert on the same day in every newspaper, say towards the last couple of days? I'd say we cut it down to a normal black and white insert to save on costs... the message is what is important! :)

Wherever possible try to give LOCAL contact information - even if it is a phone number of a local supporter. And ideally invite people to local regular weekly meetings at the same place and time each week.

That's what we did in Jefferson County. Local paper readers love LOCAL emphasis

Was looking at this...

http://adserver1.harvestadsdepot.com/rhillherald/ss/057469/

To run a full page ad through The Herald (31,000 daily), Fort Mill Times (15,000 weekly), Lake Wylie Pilot (11,000 weekly), Enquirer-Herald (6,500 weekly), and heraldonline.com, for $3780. I'm thinking it might be best to run a full-page ad in every newspaper a few days before, and leave placing smaller, more regular ads to a different project or to the Meetups.

I can begin contacting every newspaper about this, but I'd prefer to wait until we have an ad and we can gauge support for this and see what the consensus is amongst everyone here. :)

Okay pimpblimp and reillym, this is what I have so far for information to include! :)

We are going to educate South Carolina and show them that Ron Paul is their answer for America! :D

Do you want all of the above info in the ad word for word? And if you could give me an ad size in column or regular inches that would great. B&W or color?

I believe it is to be 8.5 x 11. Here's a link to some specs from that website. It would be double-sided, color, and glossy.

I think that information there would be great. I think having good, simple chunks of solid information would be great, especially if we have two sides to play with. kesslma has suggested this:

I would have one side of this insert have the main bullet points, nice fonts, clear message... on the other side perhaps a little more information and details, etc.... but yet not overwhelming so someone will still read and see what he stands for.

There is definitely more that we have to cover, but I was kind of waiting to see how that would work out, with arranging this and how much space we would have, and everything. We definitely don't want it to be read like a textbook, just nice bits of substansial information, more involved than "Ron Paul will eliminate the IRS" and stuff like that. Some space between everything to make it more prominent...

Since we are going with cover, since we are talking about South Carolina, and considering that the South Carolina flag is very striking, I was wondering if we could use that deep blue as the backdrop for the whole ad and work with white text, and include the lines "Liberty" like the Revolution flag and the images from the state flag. A good picture of Ron Paul and everything and maybe the official logo at the bottom of the other side....

Just ideas of course; it'd be fun to draw up a sample of what we're looking at though so we can really fine-tune it and get it ready! :)

I'm so excited, this can be huge! :D

I like the blue color of the first one, the state flag. :)

Update: Kesslma has found a way that we can place our two sided, glossy color insert in every South Carolina newspaper with one payment. Contact has been made to get an estimate.

We're working on getting our insert designed! Any help is appreciated, especially with the statements that we will include about Ron Paul and his stances. :)

Its an ad that is specifically intended for South Carolina, and with the color and the palm and the "Liberty", I don't think it has any chance of being misinterpreted. :)

Let's borrow from the official campaign for our section on who Ron Paul is personally. They are running an eight-state radio ad blitz now and this will do perfectly:

"Who is Ron Paul, the Republican candidate for president? Ron Paul served his country as a flight surgeon after the Cuban missile crisis. As a young doctor, Ron Paul worked nights in the emergency room of an inner-city hospital, taking care of everyone, whether they could pay or not. As an ob/gyn, Ron Paul delivered over 4,000 babies. Dr. Ron Paul knows our healthcare system needs real change, where patients and doctors are in charge, not big corporations or government bureaucrats.

"As a congressman for almost 2 decades, Ron Paul knows our Constitution is there to protect our freedom and limited government. He has never voted for a tax increase or an unbalanced budget. His record clearly shows he will cut taxes and stop runaway spending. People who know him call him the taxpayer's best friend."

:D

Okay, so we have Ron Paul the issues, Ron Paul the man, and what we now need is Ron Paul the message, pertaining to freedom and human sovereignty, the American Revolution, liberty, the Constitution. I am going to get some rest soon and now that I have some inspiration, I'll develop that message, and we'll try to tie everything together, make some adjustments, and see how we can get it looking. :D

We're going somewhere great with this, people! :)

Also, we could have these printed off and used as flyers to pass around the state, too, if there is interest. :)

check this out

A Congressional candidate here in Maryland (Ron Paul Republican) ran a 12 page advertisement that looked exactly like a newspaper and was about the size of a newspaper. It was included last week with the paper out of Cambridge,MD. I showed the hard copy to a bunch of people who were either undecided or commited to another candidate and 22 of them came over to our side. This piece is very deceptive, so deceptive that my wife did not realize it as an advertisement for this candidate and for Ron Paul until she got to page 4.

Follow the link below to see the thread that contains the scans:

I think we could follow this format easily and really hammer states with this.

This ad needs to go up on ads4paul.com immediately, what a great idea.

Hey guys! Great job on the newspaper efforts. I've been trying to figure out how to get people together for something like this, but ran into snags on the finance side. Where are we? What can I do? I'm a graphic/web designer in Columbia, SC.

Thanks for your efforts!
