Newspaper Strategy + Every Newspaper In SC

Jackpot! :)

This is truly amazing guys, we can win this if we put our minds to it and make it happen, I'm going to review these ads now! ;)

And, no, I haven't slept yet, but I relaxed a bit with a good old chill out session. :D

Updated the ad to include Paul's 6 point plan.

Thats much better. We may use that one, in fact I would say the chances are fairly high we will.

Just put my thoughts about it in another topic relating to this. We need to make an official SC newspaper advertising thread because we're discussing this stuff in like 3 threads at the same time lol.

Remeber guys, think small. Small papers are cheap, small papers reach lots of people who don't read The State.

I'd def. agree with the above poster, we should focus on lots of small publications, like Tidbits and Coffee News, rather than major newspapers... once we have money for ads in all the small publications we should focus on targeted areas (the best way would be to ask the campaign where we need them, I think).

Well, I think that if we arrange our inserts and have everything set, its really just a question of funding. If we make the entire grass-roots organization realize how South Carolina will make or break our campaign, and we have everything set for them to donate money to the local media bomb of South Carolina, we will run in every publication, every medium of advertising.

Funding should NOT be an issue if we get people behind us. The cause is just and based in reality - demonstrated to be effective, and South Carolina is CRUCIAL.

Not only do we need a local media bomb of advertising, we also need everyone here contacting all of the state media and the state politicians and constantly telling them about Ron Paul. All we want them to hear about for the next two weeks is Ron Paul, from thousands of Ron Paul supporters!

We've harranged the national mainstream media and made them feel our presence very intensely (we have CNN catering to us and Fox suffering because of us! :D). Now we need to flood South Carolina with Ron Paul!

I love that format! :)

I honestly think that every immigration stance advertisement we will be running relates to his foreign policy as well. We need to show how bringing our troops home to protect our country and cutting the massive overhead spending to operate overseas will positively affect immigration!

We need two kill two birds with one stone - not only do we need to get Ron Paul elected in South Carolina, we need these people to state that they agree with foreign policy, which is getting heavily critisized by the other Republican candidates.

All of Ron Paul's messages are intertwined around a singular issue - freedom. If we start blending our issues, we will be most effective!

I'm going to search for ads, can anyone throw together an ad with that format that relects this perspective? I can write bullet points out! :)

Going to go research that website now, then I might try to write an ad with your format, and maybe you can throw it together? :)

I can do it in the format I posted before. PM me some points you would like included and I will try my best. Also if you have an ad size preference let me know.

I'm working on figuring out the way to type out the information we wish to convey. I have a way with words. :D I'm collaborating with reillym, and we would love your help as well. :)

Here's some information I sent over regarding the direction we should take the ad in. ;)

So right now I'm gathering a sense of what all we should address. Illegal immigration is a plus. We need to specifically state the relevance of his stance to Beaufort County's recent ordinance seeking to deter illegal immigration. They understand that we need to remove the incentive, and maybe a direct quotation of Ron Paul saying this about removing the incentive, and then say "Ron Paul represents South Carolina"! :D

South Carolina is more favorable to the war, but Ron Paul's foreign policy is crucial and if we can tie-it in with illegal immigration and national security, as well as federal spending. The people are going to want to hear about eliminating federal taxes, even if the pundits for these corporations do not. There is a common thread that relates all of these stances, and we need to illustrate this in a simple manner!

It might be worth it to have a simple sentence about eliminating the Department of Energy, since it seems that they would be relieved to hear that.

Also, I think one of Ron Paul's biggest charms is his honesty and his realness. We need to have a little group of information about that as well. The fact that he is a doctor that has delivered over 4000 babies, the fact that he has been in Congress for 30 years fighting for these same stances on issues, the fact that he does not take special interest money but still receives the most funding, the fact that he has continually fought to restrain the federal government with the Constitution.

Also, South Carolina has a rich history of being patriots. 20 South Carolina citizens signed the Constitution, and they have always been involved in the Revolution. We need to play to that sense of patriotism. Perhaps that can kind of set the tone for the backdrop of the ad?

We have a couple of days until New Hampshire is done and we'll start receiving the full focus of the grass-roots in this forum. If we lay the foundation for South Carolina now, when everyone shows up, we'll be ready to fly. If we get a stellar full page insert down and have our contacts lined up to run it in every single newspaper, then when they all show up, energized from New Hampshire and aware of South Carolina's all or nothing mentality, they'll drop in our funding and we will play a huge role in winning the state for Ron Paul!

I'm beginning to figure out exactly what statements to convey, but I can really benefit from an idea of what kind of format I have. I want simple, effective statements. I'm looking for havin each statement in its own distinct group, with space between to call attention. Definitely not huge blocks of text, we're not writing a novel here. :D

Here's one line that I have to stand alone as its own group:

""Ron Paul stands for the principle of eliminating the Department of Energy and other costly, ineffective bureaucracies in order to return the power of government to the individual states and to keep the earnings of every American in their hands."

"Dr. Paul understands illegal immigration and is dedicated to successfully treating the problem. Ron Paul's stance is the same as Beaufort County's recent ordinance seeking to deter companies from hiring illegal immigrants - we need to eliminate the incentive for illegal immigration. Ron Paul represents South Carolina!
"Make no mistake, Americans are happy to welcome immigrants who follow our immigration laws and seek a better life here. America is far more welcoming and tolerant of newcomers than virtually any nation on earth. But our modern welfare state creates perverse incentives for immigrants, incentives that cloud the issue of why people choose to come here. The real problem is not immigration, but rather the welfare state magnet. - Ron Paul"

Should I include that quote from Ron Paul? I was just looking for something about incentives, but this provides a more informed stance. I think educating them will be very effective, because everyone who reads that will know what he is talking about. :)

I think that would be the biggest statement, but I think it will be necessary because illegal immigration is probably one of our key issues in South Carolina. Directly relating it with their own efforts is a huge plus, and information provided straight from Ron Paul makes him look like he actually knows what is happening, instead of just some one-liner about what he would do. :)

Okay pimpblimp and reillym, this is what I have so far for information to include! :)

"Ron Paul stands for the principle of eliminating the Department of Energy and other costly, inefficent federal bureaucracies in order to return the power of government to the people and their state representatives."

- Ron Paul"

"Ron Paul stands for border security. American Troops should be home, defending our national security here. Our military presence and intervention in the Middle East and around the planet costs American taxpayers a trillion dollars a year and gives incentives for Islamic radicals to gain power. We threaten our national security by creating enemies and leaving our own borders unprotected and our troops vulnerable to attack. As President, Ron Paul could bring our troops home from around the planet and stabilize American borders and our national economy."

"Since 2002, the price of oil has jumped from $28 a barrel to nearly $100 a barrel. No wonder gas prices are so high. The cost of running foreign military operations threatens our economy and our environment. The Pentagon uses more oil than 180 countries, contributing to global warming, and costing the American taxpayer a trillion dollars a year, roughly the amount of federal income taxes Americans pay. Ron Paul thus stands for eliminating the federal income tax, to let Americans keep their money to take care of themselves, their homes, and their families. As President, Ron Paul will change our foreign policy to cut federal spending to make this possibillity a reality, with South Carolina's support."

We are going to educate South Carolina and show them that Ron Paul is their answer for America! :D

We're also going to need some information about Ron Paul, the Man. :) We need to show America how honest he is and how he has been fighting for the American people! We need to show them the American Revolution they played a crucial role in fighting is still being fought today, and we need them with us! :)

If we go with the glossy color insert, maybe only in certain ones if cost does become an issue, we should definitely keep the color of the South Carolina flag. The white liberty should be down on the bottom of the page, and a Ron Paul up at the top, and maybe the palm and the moon in good places too! We need to make this a South Carolina campaign in every way. I think that color blue will be very striking and white text will be eye-catching. I remember reading comments of Bill Watterson, the creator of the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, and he was saying how people's eyes are naturally drawn more towards white than black... :)

Excellent focus. We can learn from this and improve and target every state with this program and RULE.

I do suggest a shortcut to some manner of organization to spread out our individual efforts and avoid neglecting some newspapers and overworking others. Simply pick your favorite issue and discuss it in a brief but effective way which could fit into a small affordable ad space. Pick a newspaper which also has a name beginning with the same initial as your own last name and that spreads out the issues addressed and the newspapers should get reasonably good coverage.

Any remaining funds can support group actions such as the ones being formed here where extra large ads are being created. If each of us creates one ad and buys it in a paper as described and then supports the chipins for the bigger ads we can do a lot toward winning South Carolina.

Our national and individual sovereignty depends on winning South Carolina. This is where we must make it happen !
