Guy Fawkes Day Helps Raise Millions for Paul

By David D. Kirkpatrick

Historians and British school children remember Guy Fawkes as the Catholic, anti-Protestant rebel who on Nov. 5, 1605 unsuccessfully tried to assassinate King James I by blowing up the parliament.

Supporters of the long-shot Republican primary campaign of libertarian Representative Ron Paul may remember Guy Fawkes as a wildly successful fund-raising gimmick.

On Monday, a group of Paul supporters helped raised more than $2.8 million in one day — more than half its total for last quarter — through a Web site called ThisNovember5th.com, a reference to the day the British commemorate the thwarted bombing. Paul fans may know of the day primarily through a movie based on the futuristic graphic novel “V for Vendetta,” by Alan Moore and David Lloyd, in which a terrorist modeled after Mr. Fawkes battles a fascist government that has taken over Britain.

It's a very good article. Check out the last paragragh, it quotes Jesse Benton.

Actually, the Guy Fawkes thing is just getting it more attention, which is pretty good.

"Mr. Paul has surpassed former Senator John Edwards’ best day: $2.5 million on March 31." :D :D :D

I also like how the article refers to "Guy Fawkes as a wildly successful fund-raising gimmick" - which is all it ever was meant to be, at least as I understood it.

Excellent article!

Yep

Hate to sound vindictive, but all the whiners and naysayers deserve a good helping of crow. This will not derail Ron Paul's campaign.

I dare say nothing can!

I had my private doubts as to the wisdom of this gimmick... I'm glad to see that it's getting *positive* attention as it was intended.

This is soooooooo cool!!!!!!

:D

Stop putting your own agendas forward ad Dr. Paul's

This type of comment has to stop if we're going to win. The agendas of Dr. Paul and that of the fiat-loving (and factually inaccurate) Money Masters are incompatible; Dr. Paul is not running on a truther Loose Change platform. Stop it. We're supporting Dr. Paul because we like HIS agenda, please stop misrepresenting us.

I like how the main stream media likes to brand him as a Libertarian. When he is a true republican. What the definition of a true republican is by all means. I suggest you do your homework, and google video search ‘The Money Masters’ , ‘ America from freedom to fascism ‘ , ‘ Loose Change ‘ , and do a regular search for ‘operations northwoods’ , ‘the bilderberg group’ , and ‘ howard taft ‘
