New Poll: Klobuchar ahead of Bills by 24%

I found Steve Forbes email and sent him one highlighting Bills, along with the other candidates in my signature. Lets hope he gets involved. In the past he support Rand, Amash, Schiff, and even Ron when he ran for Congress.

Some interesting points from this poll:
1) They only ask 552 likely voters. That's a small amount.

Statistically speaking 552 is not a small amount. You see that "= ± 4.2% " That number is a result due to the number of people in the poll. Add more people and all you will see is that number grow smaller, the +- won't get bigger.

Election results for US Senate in Minnesota:

2000
Mark Dayton (D) - 1,181,553 ; 48.83%
Rod Grams (R) - 1,047,474 ; 43.29%
James Gibson (I) - 140,583 ; 5.81%
Constitution and Libertarian Party total - 15,503 ; 0.64%

2002
Norm Coleman (R) - 1,116,697 ; 49.53%
Walter Mondale (D) - 1,067,246 ; 47.34%
Jim Moore (I) - 45,139 ; 2%
Constitution Party - 2,254 ; 0.10%

2006
Amy Klobuchar (D) - 1,278,849 ; 58.06%
Mark Kennedy (R) - 835,653 ; 37.94%
Robert Fitzgerald (I) - 71,194 ; 3.23%
Constitution Party - 5,408 ; 0.25%

2008
Al Franken (D) - 1,212,629 ; 41.994%
Norm Coleman (R) - 1,212,317 ; 41.983%
Dean Barkley (I) - 437,505 ; 15.151%
Libertarian and Constitution Party Totals - 22,830 ; 0.79%

Please note that most of the Ron Paul supporters in Minnesota either voted for Barkley or the Libertarian or Constitution Party candidates. The race will be closer than most people think, we need to quit listening to the media about how much Klobuchar is going to win by or how she can't lose.

Yeah, this is winnable. It's not a lock for the Democrat. It will take a great performance in a debate to get a fire going...word of mouth can take over after that.

He is going to need Ron Paul size moneybombs to play this race, otherwise we are looking at something similar to Schiff (who I supported) in CT. We can't afford to go half ass into a race like this to only take a crushing blow to morale. Are people ready to donate like we did to Ron Paul?
It's tragic too, because we could desperately use another Liberty voice in the Senate. We can raise $35+ million for Ron, but his allies can't even break 250k. Wish we allocated our resources better.

Since I think we need a home run swing to win this, I would definitely try to get him on board, even though I have problems with many of his positions and ideas.

The question is, how do we make that happen?
Ventura jumped the shark long ago. He's never endorse a republican or democrat. He's in political Siberia.

Do we have another legit contender for a United States Senate seat besides Bills? We need more liberty-minded Senators to back up Rand and Mike Lee.

Well Rand and Ron both endorsed Cruz.
Yeah Cruz, he's much better than the establishment choice. Bills is even better than Cruz though from what I've seen. Other than these two we don't have any other Senate candidates running with a legit shot? That alone should make us buck up and fight harder for Bills and Cruz, respectively.

Hovde, Cruz, and Brunner are our best bets. Not all are pure, unfortunately, but all are better than DeMint at the least.

Bills can run well if he doesn't run a conventional Republican campaign. One would think that his support for many of Ron Paul's positions and the endorsement of the Pauls would lend himself to such a campaign. Instead, he's now palling around with establishment Republican figures and he's now equivocating on many of his once stated position, especially on foreign policy. Why? Money. I'm sure he's been told he can't raise money to be competitive with Klobuchar unless distances himself with (ahem) some of Paul's positions (Israel). My fear is he used Paul's well organized group in Minnesota to get the nomination and now he's just going to be another Republican. Well if he does that he's going to be beat soundly.

Need to drive up Klobuchar's negatives and get her under 50% in polls. A lot of people probably don't even think this can even be a competitive race. A Ventura endorsement would probably be a nice boost since Klobuchar is really strong with independents and you have to cut into that to even have a chance.

I thought Ron Paul supporters control the MN GOP. If so, now is the time to flex their muscles. No candidate can depend on national Ron Paul donors for financial support. Bills, as well as the MN GOP, have to raise money on their own for this campaign.

How well can Bills possibly be known across MN? He's a state representative for crying out loud. I bet if Bills and the MN GOP can work hard and get this race tighter on their own, then the outside money will start pouring in.

#1. I lived in MN for the better part of my life. My folks and my whole family still do. I've never even heard of a senate debate, atleast one thats any non activist would listen to.

#2. Amy is only liked in the urban areas. If you get out into rural MN the Dem's get slaughtered. People will vote either D or R. I suspect he's getting soft support from the Republicans that are hard-core and see the Paul influences as unfair. Your normal run of the day (95% of em) Republican Voter has probably never heard of Ron Paul or care that he won the delgates unless the media labled them cheaters.

#3. There is some deep hatred for Amy. If we can moblize an army to go against her its a winable race.

He needs money and some national spotlight to enhance donations ala Ted Cruz style. We need the Pauls to come to Minnesota, and everyone else and garner some earned media attention. Any chance Palin would endorse and would that help in Minnesota?

Palin = depends.

Some see her as they portrayed her on SNL, some see her as legit. I personally think Palin is a political liability rather than an asset.

It definitely depends upon the state. But she does garner national media attention, and that spotlights the candidate, which leads to national donations pouring into the race.
