New Poll: Klobuchar ahead of Bills by 24%

If you add up the other and undecided he is still down and give those to Bills he is still down by 10 points. I'm starting to wonder about the viability of this race.

When will the debates start? Plus, still waiting on whether certain national orgs will fund Bills. Anyone in MN know the skinny on this race thus far?

He is going to need Ron Paul size moneybombs to play this race, otherwise we are looking at something similar to Schiff (who I supported) in CT. We can't afford to go half ass into a race like this to only take a crushing blow to morale. Are people ready to donate like we did to Ron Paul?

Sadly, I don't think so. That is just my honest opinion. Otherwise, I would have him in my sig, but I prioritized with a qualification on electability.

Constitution and Libertarian Party total - 15,503 ; 0.64%

2002
Norm Coleman (R) - 1,116,697 ; 49.53%

Robert Fitzgerald (I) - 71,194 ; 3.23%
Constitution Party - 5,408 ; 0.25%

2008
Al Franken (D) - 1,212,629 ; 41.994%

Dean Barkley (I) - 437,505 ; 15.151%
Libertarian and Constitution Party Totals - 22,830 ; 0.79%

Please note that most of the Ron Paul supporters in Minnesota either voted for Barkley or the Libertarian or Constitution Party candidates. The race will be closer than most people think, we need to quit listening to the media about how much Klobuchar is going to win by or how she can't lose.

Would Jesse Ventura help or hurt him?

Since I think we need a home run swing to win this, I would definitely try to get him on board, even though I have problems with many of his positions and ideas.

The question is, how do we make that happen?

Minnesota will also elect a United States Senator in November. If the election for United States Senator from Minnesota were today, would you vote for ... (choices rotated) Republican Kurt Bills? DFL candidate Amy Klobuchar? Or one of the other candidates?

31% Kurt Bills (R)
55% Amy Klobuchar (DFL)
5% Other
9% Undecided

Some interesting points from this poll:

1) They only ask 552 likely voters. That's a small amount.

2) I found the following results interesting:

If the election for President were today, would you vote for ... (choices rotated) Republican Mitt Romney? Democrat Barack Obama? Or one of the other candidates?

40% Mitt Romney (R)
46% Barack Obama (D)
7% Other
7% Undecided

3) This is a big one.....

In an election for U.S. Senator from Minnesota today, incumbent DFL candidate Amy Klobuchar soundly defeats Republican challenger Kurt Bills, 55 percent to 31 percent. Klobuchar leads among men and women, young and old, rich and poor, and in all regions of the state. 21 percent of those who vote for Mitt Romney for President cross over and vote for the DFL candidate for U.S. Senate.

There are a lot of rumors floating around that the establishment Republicans are sitting on their hands hoping that Bills fails and this backs up that claim. "Hey, if the Paul people aren't going to vote for Romney then we won't vote for their candidate."

I like those numbers, Minnesota is definitely a different electorate. My gut is 50/50 on this. I'm not seeing the movement or forum as a whole at the point it would need to be, and are people tapped out from the 2012 cycle with Ron, we elected Rand in an off year?

If you take the 21% of Romney supporters that supported Klobuchar and add that to Bills, now it's not so far apart.

21% of Romney supporters = 46 votes out of 552
Klobuchar votes with Romney supporters = 303 votes out of 552 (55%)
Klobuchar votes without Romney supporters = 257 votes out 552 (46.5%)
Bills votes without Romney supporters = 171 votes out of 552 (31%)
Bills votes with Romney supporters = 217 votes out of 552 (39.3%)

Now it's a 7% difference.

Bills needs to SERIOUSLY stomp some a** in any debates coming up. No holds barred, destruction. Get people FIRED UP again.

Edit: Hey, my avatar worked! I figured after five years it might be time to learn how to do that!

People don't watch Senate debates.

We need TV ads and mailers.

Money to bring up his name identity with voters, and a brushfire.
