New Pew study finds that Ron Paul was ignored by media throughout the election cycle

The part of Pew Research's report on Paul can be accessed directly here:

Proof of Paul's media exclusion

Is this supposed to be unbiased?? Or add one to their own "negative" coverage?

And it never returned to positive territory as the coverage began focusing on his increasingly quixotic effort.

Paul, whose isolationist views distinguished him from his GOP rivals...

We all knew the media was blacking him out. I guess it may help some to see it in black and white.

Considering he was in second place in a Reuters Ipsos national poll in FEBRUARY with ZERO coverage, it is hard to blame the lack of coverage on his campaign being quixotic.

I hope they did not spend too much time or money on this study. All they had to do is ask any Ron Paul supporter.

"reflected a media consensus that..........the libertarian-leaning candidate could not capture the Republican nomination."

I'm as mad as Hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore. This is ridiculous. Someone should hang for this, and I'm not even joking.

John Swinton said:
There is no such thing, at this date of the world's history, in America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it.

There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone.

The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press?

We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.

I don't think this study takes into account the nonstop bashing Paul received from Hannity, Lavine and others in conservative talk radio during Dec/Jan. I believe that onslaught doomed us from the start with GOP/conservtive voters. These guys (Hannity and company) will never be on our side.

I know there are a lot of factors, but in my mind, I can (rightfully or not) boil everything down and blame the whole reason he hasn't won squarely on the media. It's not just ignoring some local interest story - they're messing with, fiddling with, rigging, screwing with the Office of the President of the United States of America. This isn't American Idol! Thousands of people will die in unnecessary wars that the people don't even want, but haven't been given an alternative, because of what the media has done. It's treasonous. It really is.

Had the media just done an ounce of honest reporting on Ron Paul, this past year would be a tidal wave for liberty. It is infuriating.

The media is the enemy and we need to figure out ways to neutralize them...the Internet sadly doesn't reach the bulk of people who vote, namely those 55+... but we didn't need a study to tell us that the media is bias against him.

Media also profits from the Federal Reserve system, guaranteed. Why would they give Ron Paul fair coverage? Think about it.

The media must be held accountable or its actions or it will continue.

Right!

Now as I've suggested before(that falls on deaf ears). There are actionable tasks here.
RPF should coordinate to make the media accountable. Actions would be create a private forum, indentify individuals in the media, provide them with accurate information, call them out.

If no action is going to be taken then firstly, people will remain powerless and and secondly it's no good moaning about it.

For starters contact Pew (http://www.journalism.org/about_pej/contact_us) and let them know that 'isolationist' is not acceptable journalism, and especially not excellence implied by the name 'Project for Excellence in Journalism'
