New Opportunity: Like Kerry Bentivolio's Page - Running for Michigan's 11th Congressional

This interview might give you a better idea where he stands.

http://libertycandidates.com/2012/01/kerry-bentivolio/
Q: How should we fight a “war on terror”?

A: This is a very complex question requiring more research. Our present tactic is bankrupting our country and it violates Constitutional provisions for individual rights and liberties. My gut feeling suggests improved defense of our borders in all areas and cooperation with other nations. I believe there is another way.

Q: Should the U. S. occupy other countries? If not, would you push to close all bases? Are there any you would keep open?

A: As a young soldier, I believed serving overseas on U. S. military base in a foreign country a great adventure and opportunity. Presently, more enlightened, I believe our soldiers in Japan, Germany, and elsewhere is unconstitutional. We have fulfilled our World War II commitment. It is time to bring our soldiers home. Immediately close all military bases on foreign soil, including South Korea. Many military experts realize U. S. military forces in South Korea, should the north invade the south, are little more than a speed bump in the road.
This guy is on our team afterall. I'm beyond sold!

noooooooooooo it shouldn't. Not when he needs neo-con acceptance. It needs to circulate RPF though, dude is the real deal.

Fair enough, but it's critical "we" know it. Any way we can use the "lists", either moneybomb or campaign, to build some excitement for the guy?

He's got a good mix of likes on his facebook page, including Ron Paul 2012, Peter Schiff, Campaign for Liberty, Justin Amash, Rand Paul, Andrew Napolitano, Audit the Fed, and the Ludwig von Mises Institute.

He also has a bunch that are likely there to please the establishment. Check for yourself: http://www.facebook.com/KerryBentivolio

Full disclosure: I've liked Palin on FB.

So it looks like the interview addresses some of your questions anewvoice (those in bold):

- No reference to the Federal Reserve
- No reference to Non-interventionism

- Not my personal issue but he took a weak stance on the life issue, and he doesn't state whether or not it's a federal jurisdiction
- No reference to nullification
- Party line on taxes but no meat on spending other than "cut the big 3 domestic programs"
- Calls out 3 of the 10 rights from the Bill of Rights and the Commerce Clause, but might be superficial
- Nothing on Right to Work
- Nothing on NDAA, TSA or Patriot Act
- Nothing on home schooling
- Nothing on health care of any sort
- Nothing on immigration
- Nothing on monetary policy
- No meat on crony capitalism / corporate welfare
- Aside of less taxes, little in the way of a fiscal plan

- Nothing on Assassinating Americans
- Nothing on foreign aid
- Nothing on health freedoms (raw milk, medical marijuana, vitamins, alternative health care, HSAs)
- Audit the Fed
- Syria, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan
- Al-Qaeda and the War on Terror

- The War on X (Poverty, Drugs...)
- National ID (Real ID)

I think he looks like a liberty candidate I can support.

Bottom line is if Thad and the est aren't uniting behind this guy, that's really all I need to know. Thad plays the same tune with us Paul folk.

This guy needs to be pumped into life.

I'm willing to donate and ask others to do so, but this man needs to show he's a serious candidate. 200 likes on FB and 90 followers on Twitter, no attempt to push himself into free media, almost none social media activity. Not a single change in his website - there are still orthographic mistakes to be corrected.

McCotter will still contest this primary hard and with plenty of resources available. Bentivolio will need to introduce himself soon - otherwise it'll be Thad doing it. He needs to get his name out there and this very moment, with McCotter cluster**** getting attention would be a good one to start doing it. He can't and won't win simply by being the only name on the ballot. Not against a candidate of McCotter status.

The Democrat candidates are a LaRouchie and a Muslim doctor with a very heavy Indian accent. This new district is too republican friendly for any of those guys to beat a republican candidate barring live boy/dead girl. Romney will beat Obama in this district. Once Bentivolio is the nominee, he'll have the support of the NRCC. But the primary is going to be hard. He won't win it with less than 60,000 votes. There will probably be some state legislator from Oakland County running as a write-in, cutting Bentivolio margins. McCotter will run the table on Livonia and Wayne County. Being a candidate needs to become his full-time job for the next two months. He needs to start raising money, and plenty of it, very soon. He needs to hire a couple of consultants to help him. He needs to start putting his name out there.

Put pressure on this guy to become a real candidate soon. To show commitment.

This has got to be the most interesting race going on in politics in some time.

BREAKING: Another establishment will wage their own write-in campaign. Establishment vs. Establishment = Kerry victory. There won't be enough votes for either write in to win.

http://www.freep.com/article/201206...-11th-Congressional-District?odyssey=nav|head

Former state Sen. Loren Bennett, a Canton Republican, plans to wage a write-in campaign for the 11th Congressional District, setting up a battle with U.S. Rep. Thad McCotter, R-Livonia.

“We need someone who takes the job seriously,” Bennett said today. “Even though it’s an enormous uphill battle, I’m putting my name and reputation out there. I don’t know if I will be more successful than an incumbent in a write-in campaign. But after what has happened here, the public deserves a choice.”

The campaign will capitalize on anger with McCotter for the petition scandal as well as annoyance with his short-lived presidential candidacy last year.

Anyone who lives in his district and wants to get involved in politics, this is your chance. If you put in significant time with Kerry's campaign, you might be able to land a job in his office if he wins.

I hope to see signs of life from his campaign soon. He has a great opportunity. For the past nine months either they have not been working too hard or they haven't been too effective in their local and national outreach. If they had, they would be in a spot to capitalize on this situation. At least a quarter of his 200 FB likes have been through efforts here. I am willing to help more too, but his campaign needs to show some viability first.

Are you serious? He's already worked harder than the incumbent did. ANd because they did, they are in an excellent chance to capitalize on the situation.

Unless the law forbids it, as above, I really don't have a problem with McCotter launching a write-in campaign. This is a Republican primary - it's not like McCotter is launching a third party independent run in the general. However, the party should stay the hell out of the primaries.

Like Demint Conservative said above... welcome by the way!

I think we should get some input from others in this forum, because I'm willing to bet the reason Kerry is being quiet right now, is to let this story continue on, building up these negatives for Thad. I talked to a two people up in that district today, and they just heard about it today, and their response was very negative, and they didn't even know much about this story, but that Thad ran for president, for no apparent reason, and how could he screw this up? We have to remember asking people to show up and write in a name of someone the people are pissed about, while they go to vote in the first place, in a presidential election year, that's alot for the average joe, and in 2008 Thad unchallenged, also in a presidential election year only got 40,000 votes when he was on the ballot. Now another write-in candidate? Two write-ins, with this whole mess, and only Kerry on the ballot? I don't see why Kerry should speak up right now, too much, he should hang low, for a bit, get his campaign together under the radar, gathering the ground forces, strategy and then wait to pounce. Like I said, I would like to hear from others here that are much better with strategy on this

Any campaign strategists around here to give some input on what Kerry should be doing right now?

I think they did good getting their signatures in. That gives them a chance to take advantage of the situation. In order to capitalize, they need name recognition and funds. I am worried that they have been non-existent in this area after nine months. I hope to see signs of life in this area.

You should never get in the way of your opponent destroying themselves. It is a good strategy.
