Never pay shipping at Amazon

This is great for another reason.

If you get an Amazon gift card for Christmas or whatever, and want to use all the money, without having to spend any of your own, you can order some trinket to use up your remaining balance.
 
I am just as guilty for using them but I wish there was a better alternative that was promoted here instead of the one that is promoting and lobbying heavily for the internet tax.

I am not sure why this company always gets a free pass like they are some small business. They could close their website today and they still would be doing quite well. For example they recently signed a $600 million dollar contract to provide Private Cloud Services for the CIA's classified data.
 
If you know anyone who has a .edu address (or you have an old one yourself) make sure to signup for "amazon student" which gets you free 2-day shipping for a year.

When I was in undergrad/grad I think I had about 4-5 different school email addresses, came in handy ;)

Do you still have access to them? Do you need access? I have an old student email but was blocked access to the account years ago..
 
Oh and I actually found this thread about a month or two ago and used the link in the OP and it worked great, I'm surprised it is down. Wonder if it will come back up.

I was only able to get it for 6-months, but I'm able to get Amazon Prime for 50% off once the 6 months ends.

I have had Amazon Prime for years and I love it.It is still $79.00 free second day air for a year.

I have ordered stuff in the afternoon and had them on my porch the next morning more than once.

It also comes with 40,000+ free movie and TV show downloads for those with the internet connection that can handle them,which I don't have.
 
Not sure if they still have it, but Amazon Mom was a great way to get basic prime membership. I did it for one year, then signed up dad's account for the second--we now use regular prime.

I have it. Its great in my opinion. I don't care about interest rates because I pay it in its entirety every month, but you will get tons of Amazon money which can be used on nearly everything in the store (Items that are sold by amazon, i believe, so there are certain things that you can't buy with the money). You get 3 points (that means 3 cents) for every dollar spent on Amazon, 2 points at Gas stations and restaurants (a $60 fill up will get you (60*.02 = $1.20) $1.20 in Amazon money just for filling up once), and 1 point (1 cent) on every other dollar spent.

I've had the card for less than 2 years and spend very little and have already received over $70 in money for amazon. If you purchase all your groceries, pay all your bills, go christmas shopping on Amazon, and fill up your car a couple times a week with this card, you will be rolling in the dough.

The points automatically go onto your Amazon account. You simply sign into Amazon, click "My Account" and click "Shop with Points" to see how many you have, or you can see it on your Chase account page. When you plan on buying something all you have to do is add the item to your cart and click checkout. When you are brought to the page that shows shipping and payment options, you just enter the amount of points you want to apply to your purchase and they reduce the total price by that amount. I personally am saving the points so I can outright buy something without spending a "real" penny on it.

I have $26 in points right now and recently purchased $320+ in shoes on Amazon for my family who will pay me back for them. That means I will have the $26, plus the point value of other purchase, plus (320*.03 = $9.60) $9.60. I'll probably have $40+ in essentially "free" money to spend on Amazon, all because i'm using their card. And i've already spent $30+ in points in the past, so in less than 2 years i've already accumulated well over $70 in "free" money just by using this card, and I hardly use it at all!

Lets say your credit limit is $2000 per month. If you spend all of that by paying bills, purchasing food, entertainment, and other things, you will have a MINIMUM of (2000*.01 = $20) $20 per month. Considering a large part of that $2000 is going to be gasoline and possibly eating out, that number could go up another several dollars, easily.

I'm sure you can imagine how fast it will add up when someone with real expenses starts using it.

Highly recommended for someone who pays it off every month.
