Nevada, second largest county (washoe) convention today

So how did you do?
Relatively well. Everyone who self-nominated is going to the state, including myself and my wife (~600 of 638 total spots I think). We had about 30 spots (someone else can correct me if I'm wrong) that were vacant and would be filled by alternates. I'm guessing we have a third of the delegate spots, but maybe someone else knows better.

I found the whole platform approval process to be a waste of time. We spent an hour just going over and approving the Preamble to the Proposed Platform.

the problem is if the others band against us. I don't like that they are requiring to say who you are for.

It was not required to say who you were for. But our people fell for this old trick and let the other campaigns know exactly how many of us there were.

Lesson for other conventions. Do not let the others know your numbers. EVER. That is until it's time to vote for actual delegates.

As it was, everyone in Clark County got to be delegates to the state if they wanted to be. My wife and I are both delegates. And the entire slate was elected to the county executive board. They are solid people who have been around since last time, so I think they'll actually show up to the meetings and move the party forward.

That sounds familiar. I remember a North Carolina convention that spent an hour debating how to record people's preferences to be contacted by snail mail or e-mail.

Agreed. I almost stood up to protest when the chairman asked this, knowing what he was doing. I myself (as well as a few RP supporters sitting near me) did not stand or cheer when we were asked to... but I must admit if felt great to hear the roar from the crowd of RP supporters.

If we play our cards right... and all of us show up at the state convention... we should be able to sweep the national delegates just like we did the executive board. Great job and +rep. See you at the state convention in May.

It's pretty easy to spot us.
