Nevada results rolling in now!

This is bullshit. Rons exit polling ALWAYS goes down, others ALWAYS goes up to outperform Ron. All the same.. all the friggin same.

Newt went from 4% margin to 10%!! In his?

And now Ron had a 3-4% margin and it looks like what, 1%? Am I wrong on this?

From your join date I can tell you were around the last primary election cycle. Haven't you learned anything yet?

Sure, it's nice we got off to a good start. We finished second a few times late in '08. Momentum should be on our side, right?

Not so fast....

Noot is going to beat us for second in Nevada having not spending as much time or money as we have in this damn state where in '08 we won second place.

It's time we Ron Paul folks stop lying to ourselves about winning the GOP nomination from a GOP and Establishment owned media that is hell bent on us not winning the nomination. Just stop....

And realize that an Indy run is the way to go.

Here are the numbers if you extrapolate the 77.8% and 81.4% results to 100%

Mitt 10868 59.36%
Newt 3435 18.76%
Paul 2694 14.72%
Rick 1312 7.17%

The more they recount, the worse Clark gets. Please someone check my math! (I use the Excel function "Forecast" and I know Excel pretty good!)
I have no idea how 'Forecast' works, but it's not right. Just take the numbers and divide by 81.4 and multiply by 100.

SCOTUSman,

The GOP will implode if anyone but Paul is the nominee. They need us a lot more than we need them, so just sit back and enjoy the carnage. :)

This is true, but if we can embarrass them even more...humiliate them, it would be nice. They deserve every bit of it. They just don't disagree with Ron's philosophy. It isn't a matter of governing philosophy, but rather an attack, disparagement, and insults toward Ron Paul and (us supporters). I want to watch them implode if they fail to nominate Ron.

I don't get why people are so obsessed with us NOT running 3rd party if the nomination doesn't come our way. Why are we sooo friggin loyal to the GOP when they do this to us. A lot of the Nobody but Paul people say, they won't vote GOP and write in Paul, but they hope Paul doesn't run independent as it would hurt the movement. They say our place is in the Republican party (because of Rand). Rand is great, I love Rand, but screw the GOP. The way they treat us. The way they cheat. The way they are incompetent and so hostile toward us. Seriously we have always -15 to -30 favorabilities in the GOP....the GOP. Every state...same numbers.....and we give the GOP the time of day? Seriously....screw them. It doesn't matter to us if Ron isn't the President. Romney or Obama makes no different, so who cares if we cost Romney and the GOP the election by running 3rd party. We have the support in public polling to qualify for the Commission's debates. We get to be on the general election debate stage, debating the President. That is what we always wanted. To debate in the General Election. Doesn't matter how....just that we are.

I have to agree with you. I am not real excited about being associated with the GOP in any way. I think that they have to be self destructing. I also think that RP would stand a whole lot better chance as an independent. Its his call though. I will support whatever he thinks is the best. +rep

Its also easier and quicker to take back the GOP from the NeoCons and restore it's principles, which just so happens to be the same as ours. Running 3rd party just opens up another propaganda playbook they can use against us. Can you imagine not being included in the GOP debates because they will say we are not part of the GOP?

Could be or it could be just the fact the majority of the people who vote in GOP caucuses are 65 year old half dead elderly people dependent on SS checks that are on the verge of getting cancer and dying and you expect them to open their minds to someone who is SOO different from what they've voted all there life? Common now... Its prettty obvious who's voting. No one is going to vote Mitt Romney dancing around waiting eagerly on Mitt Forums.. They go .. vote.. and go watch American Idol. We're probably the only people with hard supporters.. Thats why you receive it as "rigging' although there is alot of manipulation they aren't "bought" necessarily.
IT COULD BE ALSO that 8 precincts are still MISSING from Iowa!

It's not that we think it would be a bad idea as a whole (although some say that Ron shouldn't so that he doesn't some how sabotage a possible Ran Paul run in 2016), it's that the media will completely ignore Ron if he runs 3rd party. Completely.

Even if this is the case, he needs to stay GOP long enough to get in debates and stuff.

I feel exactly the way you do.

The last time I tried to do math, this happened...

currently 199 precincts left in Clark County.

Ron Paul is behind Gingrich by 850 or so.

I see no reason why we can't win this. I have no idea if we will or not.

What happens to people like Glen Bradley, Justin Amash, Tom Davis, Thomas Massie and all the other people we've encouraged to run for office as Ron Paul Republicans? If Ron runs as an independant and everyone gives up on the GOP, how are we going to get more liberty-minded candidates to run for Congress and other local offices? Can we build a third party that's strong enough to elect candidates nationwide at all levels of government so that we don't throw away the success we've had in the GOP just since 2008?

Edit - I know Tom Davis didn't necessarily win his seat as a Ron Paul supporter but I think by endorsing Ron he's thrown his lot in with us now

link to that?

I stopped looking at the Iowa results about a day after. There was one precinct missing from the county that U of Iowa is in. But I don't know the details. Was it the U Iowa precinct?

Third party = ignored
running GOP = less ignored

You think RP is ignored now??? It would be ten times worse as 3rd party. As long as he's in the primary, he will get some news coverage, he will be in the debates, he will be taken more seriously. Though its not fair that's the way it is, the two party system dominates so we have to work within it.

3rd party equals no debates, Even less attention from the media, and even less people who have heard or looked into Ron Paul. There have been libertarian and constitution minded presidential candidates as 3rd party candidates in the past. How many can you name??? 1 or 2? What about your friends and family? probably none?

Our best chance is the GOP. Its a painful process. Ron Paul is defending the old Republican platform of Robert Taft or Goldwater.

The media ignores RP already. He is either ignored or misrepresented 99% of the time by the media. I also think that an announcement by the campaign that they intend to run as independents would get a lot of press. Mainly because it would surely throw all the GOP airheads into a panic.

That door is closing. Time to move on to an Indy run, after these next few caucus states.

I agree with "our best chance is in the GOP", for now at least, but if that fails, then I disagree with everything you say about Ron Paul getting less attention in the general election race as an independent candidate than he's getting now in the Republican nomination race. According to all polls I've seen, he WOULD qualify for debates. The left-leaning media would LOVE an independent run by Ron Paul and he would get MORE attention than he's ever gotten.

Indeed, I had an error. I was pointing to the wrong row.

Here are the numbers if you extrapolate the 77.8% and 81.4% results to 100%

Mitt 10786 59.00%
Newt 2716 14.86%
Paul 3477 19.02%
Rick 1303 7.13%

Things are looking better in Clark!

Third party get no attention not entirely just for being third party, but because they're nobodies. Everyone who is politically aware knows who Ron Paul is, while Barr, Badnarik, and hell even Browne were unknown. Ron Paul would get a lot of attention, especially on the spoiler question.
