Hours after the top two leaders of the Clark County GOP resigned, Ron Paul supporters who took over said Thursday they could now focus on electing "genuine" conservatives.

Chairman Dave Gibbs and Vice Chairman Woody Stroupe both announced Wednesday they were resigning because of the tensions between them and backers of GOP presidential candidate Paul. The two men said they would instead work with "Team Nevada" to help elect Republicans in 2012.

Team Nevada is run by the Republican National Committee to help elect the presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney and other top Republicans. The RNC plans to run its campaign ground game and much of its money through Team Nevada to bypass the Paul-led county and state parties.

The newly emboldened leaders of the Clark County GOP seemed glad to get rid of Gibbs, who backs Romney.

The county party's executive board packed largely with newly elected Paul supporters immediately appointed one of its own, Cindy Lake, as acting chair. She had been secretary.

The new leaders said in a statement that the local party in Nevada's most populous county could now focus on electing like-minded candidates.

"After months of turbulence and instability following the executive board elections held at the Clark County Republican Convention, the CCRP Executive Board is now able to concentrate on the task of developing a consistent, accessible message that will allow the party to take a large role in electing genuine conservative candidates to office," acting Chairman Lake said in a statement early Thursday. "The CCRP Executive Board is looking forward to working together with Republicans across Clark County towards increasing Republican registration, building a strong, robust party, and achieving electoral success in the November elections."

The statement was signed "in liberty," the motto of Paul backers who believe the federal government has become too big, too expensive and too intrusive.

Just remember that taking over is not enough, you need the support of those that can donate to the party to support your efforts.
If all the "establishment" and followers just follow the shadow parties, you loose all the support of the old grassroots.
If there is enough new grassroots to support the effort you are in good shape, otherwise there needs to be an effort to bring "everyone" on board.

Yeah, same for Iowa, AK, MN...

That we've become or are becoming THE Republican party in Iowa, Nevada, Maine, Minnesota, Washington and Alaska is absolutely astonishing. I never thought I'd see the day where this kind of stuff was happening.

Edit: And that's to say nothing about the amazing successes and gains in Kentucky, Missouri, the Dakotas, Montana, Colorado and Arizona. Our jumping off point for all future elections is so much stronger than it has EVER been that it should give everyone here a sincere reason to be optimistic.

I love seeing Romney spend money creating "shadow parties". What do you think will happen to these people after November is over? Do you think Romney will continue bankrolling "Team Nevada" once the election is over? I'm betting no.

What needs to be done to further the Shadow Party from not getting their hand picked guy? The real GOP should sue the shadow party if they removed funds from the Nevada accounts.

We have posted plenty of CCGOP info on the Nevada Caucus threads... look out for the establishment liberal parading as a republican, Danny Tarkanian in Clark County. He's running for the new CD4

Here's the latest from Clark county GOP...

I love Cindy Lake. She is a great person. And the only reason I can say that is that my wife loves her too. I don't know if she's going to take the job full-time, but if she does, I'll certainly be doing all I can to help her. My wife simply hates politics, and has only put up with the party for my sake. And since Cindy is the new chair, she's going to help also.

it would be better they set up HQ from a shack and lived within their means then take money from corporations, much of their work can be volunteer driven, meeting at bars etc then hiring out huge halls etc etc

I was thinking more in terms of a post RNC moneybomb split between 'our' GOP chapters, so it clearly comes from us.
