Nevada GOP hacks blame Ron Paul for loss.

Somber Republicans contemplate what went wrong

Aside from the drunken slurs and grumbling following the announcement that Barack Obama was the president-elect, discussion revolved around the simple question: What went wrong?

"There has been a swing in the political pendulum," said Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons. "Both parties were seeking a win and both worked very hard, but the people have spoken."

And spoken they have, as Obama won both the electoral and the popular vote.

Some attribute Obama's success to the fact that he can relate so well to young people.

"He is a very energetic and dynamic speaker," said Nevada Assemblyman John Hambrick. "That's what the Republican Party needs more of."

In addition, some feel that the Republicans have drifted away from not only their policies, but from one another.

"I believe that Ron Paul divided this party," said Nevada Assemblywoman Lisa Marie Johnson.

"He damaged the values of this party and has instilled a sense of distrust in young voters."

"In order to reach the younger voters of not only Nevada, but of the nation, [Republicans] need to convince the people of our policy and stick to it," Hambrick said.

"We also need to cut the bulls--t and tell these kids how it is."

Despite the upset, some Republicans seem to be in high spirits and remain optimistic about their party and the state of Nevada.

"Nevada's brightest days are ahead of her," Gibbons said. "Currently renewable energy is our biggest portfolio right now. It would create tons of jobs and would remain 'recession proof.'"

Hambrick also had hope for Nevada, and the party's future.

"It's the nature of not only myself, but of all Republicans to remain optimistic. We don't run when things get tough," Hambrick said.

"We put the thinking caps on and try to find ways to better the party and the state."

Awfully defensive, aren't they? I love their authoritarian rhetoric, "We also need to cut the bullshit and tell these kids how it is." OH, REALLY?
It's nice that she's at least saying the media misquoted her, though. Whether it's true or she's just backpedaling and realizing she made a mistake, both are improvements.

So, is this true? Hard to know who is an ally or an enemy these days.

HOLD YOUR HORSES. I never said the things this writer claims I said. In fact, I said the opposite - that the party was divided because they ignored the Ron Paul supporters and kept out hard working conservatives. That the huge losses we saw across the nation including the white house were precisely because the party lost its way and needed to return to its conservative roots and the will of the people. I also commented that it was time to draw in the youth whose rebel spirit could relate to the founding fathers. This goes to show that all media is corrupt.

Also, I was seated at the convention in place of another Ron Paul supporte who had already voted. All I did was uphold his decision. If you have questions, please call me at 413-2415

No kidding! The Republican party is a bunch of untrustworthy liars, crooks, thieves and murdering genocidal maniacs. There is NO reason to trust them or any government official. The two parties are two wings on the same bird.

Glad to see you realize the realm of the GOP...

Welcome... to the REAL WORLD NEO!

I could sue but

...it would take a long time and a ton of money to sue everyone who's said false things about me. Unfortunately, the Ron Paul people have told harsher lies than the press. Facts have been distorted and partial truths evolved into ridiculous statements like the game of telephone when you were a kid. It feels worse when coming from people who stick to their principles, than those who don't. Whether it's me or someone else, stick together when they try to divide, rather than turn on each other. Don't automatically believe what they say. If you doubt one of your own, call 'em up and ask for the truth one on one. They want to divide you, do not let that happen. Regardless, I still believe in the ideals our country was built on. I wish I could say the same for the party leadership. However, the Republican party is the largest PAC for conservatives and the only one with the means to get people elected to high offices consistently. We need to remain in the party even when they don't want us there. Show up even when they don't tell us about meetings. Stay informed. Get involved. Speak out.

Lisa,

I put this story up as written.

Just to be clear, this is quoted as you:

"He (Ron Paul) damaged the values of this party and has instilled a sense of distrust in young voters."

Now, you are saying this is a complete fabrication and distortion of what you said, correct?

You never meant to be quoted that way, you don't in any way think that, and reject the premise, correct?

Also, I tried to find a contact number or email to confirm this, but wasn't able to and have been busy all day.

Before 'they' even start thinking about policies and convincing people, they need to figure out their damn principles!! Then they won't have to "bullshit" so much.

Here's the coverage of the GOP losing in Nevada.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2008/nov/05/two-gop-pillars-state-senate-felled/

one thing... Congressman Dean Heller survived, Why? Because he voted NO on the BAILOUTS and he has admitted that northern Nevada is Ron Paul territory.

Dean is a smart politican... Bob Beers, and the rest, are just NEOCON, lying, corrupt, party before people = fools.

Now the NVGOP are paying the price, for paying all their attention... to themselves!

If Mr. Beers had been a little more fair, a little nicer to our supporters, then maybe he would not have suffered this fate.

This, my friends, is power in action. And Mr. Beers and the Republicans have no one to blame but themselves. Either they accept Paul supporters or they will be a permanent minority in Nevada.

Yeah Bob Beers our good friend. Looks like he lost by 3,000 votes.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/elections/2008/nov/04/races/

That is what you get for fucking us over slimeball. Send him a note folks.

And check out his blog (where you can email him)

He is a big cry baby and suing the person who beat him.

WAH WAH WAH tough shit

Well we should ALL congratulate Bob Beers on his Lying, 2 face, conspiring, NEOCON crook that he truly represents in nevada.

A nice spicey one!!!

Not me

Absolutely not me. It isn't even that I didn't mean to be quoted that way. I flat out never said such things and would never. I am constantly sticking up for Paul people here locally. I am VERY verbal about how they are treated.

In discussion last night, we determined that he either put the wrong name on it or someone said it and gave my name. Several people also commented that I was drinking, but in fact, I rarely drink 1 drink and certainly don't get to slurring as was insinuated. I actually suspect I know who said it, because a supposed Paul sympathizer came up to me and slurring, told me it was Ron Paul's fault for dividing the party. Sounds too familiar.

Also, I was not elected unfortunately. They had that wrong too. In any case, I contacted the editor for a retraction, but have had ZERO response.

Do not allow anyone to divide and conquer.

My email address is [email protected] and my phone number is 702-413-2415. Please feel free to call me. I have nothing to hide and the truth on my side.

Well I just sent an e mail to her and said real republicans just cut the bulls--t and told her and the other phoney republicans where we are..........

"He damaged the values of this party and has instilled a sense of distrust in young voters."

ROLF. There are so many things wrong this sentence i don't even know where to start. I suppose it is self evident on this board so I won't even bother :D

No need to.

Fair enough, I'll chalk it up to journalistic incompetence and leave it at that.

Appreciate the reply.

Congressman Paul Warned the GOP Over a Year Ago

The Republican Party has no one to blame but itself. If anything, they should've listened to Dr. Paul when he told them they would lose more elections this year if they didn't turn back to their principles, especially on foreign policy.

The Nevada GOP is just a sore loser. They deserved to lose, especially after all the drama they put Ron Paul supporters in their state through during the Primary election.

Yep,

I think there are many reasons the GOP lost BIG TIME this time.

Imagine a young voter hearing this:

My fellow prisoners, Ron Paul talks about freedom this and freedom that. Well, as you already know, that's just not how it works with the GOP. Don't let anyone distract you from our true mission, our eternal quest for more power, regulation, endless war and higher taxes. We still have a job to do, and that job is just not gonna' get done now without the glorious leadership of the Republican Party. We've had the majority vote in both houses of congress and the presidency for eight years and now, all our progress is lost now, snatched from us by those awful liberals who will now proceed to ruin the entire country with their socialist plans. Why, they'll just undo all our efforts thanks to Ron Paul, the other 3rd party candidates and Obama supporters have managed to unseat loyal Republicans who...
