Somber Republicans contemplate what went wrong

Aside from the drunken slurs and grumbling following the announcement that Barack Obama was the president-elect, discussion revolved around the simple question: What went wrong?

"There has been a swing in the political pendulum," said Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons. "Both parties were seeking a win and both worked very hard, but the people have spoken."

And spoken they have, as Obama won both the electoral and the popular vote.

Some attribute Obama's success to the fact that he can relate so well to young people.

"He is a very energetic and dynamic speaker," said Nevada Assemblyman John Hambrick. "That's what the Republican Party needs more of."

In addition, some feel that the Republicans have drifted away from not only their policies, but from one another.

"I believe that Ron Paul divided this party," said Nevada Assemblywoman Lisa Marie Johnson.

"He damaged the values of this party and has instilled a sense of distrust in young voters."

"In order to reach the younger voters of not only Nevada, but of the nation, [Republicans] need to convince the people of our policy and stick to it," Hambrick said.

"We also need to cut the bulls--t and tell these kids how it is."

Despite the upset, some Republicans seem to be in high spirits and remain optimistic about their party and the state of Nevada.

"Nevada's brightest days are ahead of her," Gibbons said. "Currently renewable energy is our biggest portfolio right now. It would create tons of jobs and would remain 'recession proof.'"

Hambrick also had hope for Nevada, and the party's future.

"It's the nature of not only myself, but of all Republicans to remain optimistic. We don't run when things get tough," Hambrick said.

"We put the thinking caps on and try to find ways to better the party and the state."

They can go f*ck themselves. Ron Paul has inspired many. They can blame themselves for the loss.

they need to cut the 'they hate us for our freedom' "bullshit" if they want to get re-elected

Let's cut the bullshit and tell it how it really is.

The approximate combined total of third party & write-in voters during the general election was ~1.5 million people.

The total votes that Ron Paul got during the primaries was ~1.3 million people.

Obama got approximately 62 million votes.

McCain got approximately 55 million votes.

1,500,000 + 1,300,000 + 55 million = 57,800,000 votes.

Even if all 1.5 million third party voters & all Ron Paul voters put their votes behind McCain in the general, he still would have been approximately 4,200,000 short of beating Obama.

If the Revolution had done nothing more than instill a sense of distrust then I consider this movement a success.

Republicans should stick to their policies, our frustration is that they haven't. Republicans have become a party of BIG GOVT, BIG DEFICITS, BIG DEBT, BIG BAILOUTS and WAR.

When Republicans cut their bullshit and return to being conservative like Ron Paul, then they can return to power. Thats's how it is bitch!

Hey made UNLV's "The Rebel Yell" NEWS! Ron Paul blamed for NVGOP NEOCON ignorance.

Nevada Assemblywoman Lisa Marie Johnson is just like Sue Lawson... WORTHLESS NVGOP NEOCON IGNORANT FOSSIL!

its what they deserve for nominating McCain. lol, they really believed he was going to win?! Ron Paul was the best choice by far, they got noone to blame but themselves.

That is a laugh riot. Ron Paul was the only R hopeful who stuck to conservative principles, who told the "kids how it is" and who drew young people to support his campaign and true conservatism.

McCain lost all by his lonesome, mostly because he wasn't conservative.

Oh my god. Says a party hack that did everything they could legally do to change the rules as they went along just to suit their agenda.

If she wants trust, she should have earned it.

We stole "your" young people - na na na na na na!

McCain didn't even show-up during the POTUS campaign!

Obamawitz did like a dozen visits...

NVGOP didn't raise any money... not because of lack of donations... NO ONE WANTED McCAIN!

I see the NVGOP and their Fossil Minion republicans continue their lies... so the BULLSHYT continues throughout republican Nevada.

Well, pat ourselves on the back if that was true -
McCain's "quasi-liberal" pandering, defacto amnesty plan, ignorance about the economy, bizarro behavior ("I'm off to save the country") , and the VP Palin pick had nothing to do with it.

If the neo-cons do not want to heed the warning of Ike in his 1961 Farewell Address to the Nation . . .

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence,
whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex.
The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist."

-- Dwight D. Eisenhower

. . . then we will just have to keep reminding them.

There's a lot I could say about this, but instead I'll just point my finger at them and say... HA HA!!!

Is it just me, or is it beyond belief that any allegedly human could blame somebody else for "putting a sense of distrust" in the young, and in the next sentence say they have to "cut the bullshit"?? Anybody that would believe that moron deserves what they get.

For those of you just joining us, Nevada is the place where the GOP shut down the caucuses rather than let the Ron Paul people have votes.

And then it got worse!
