It's hard to move in this economy, so figure neither of you are going anywhere anytime soon.
I think you're going to have to find a way to get along or things will only escalate.

Put a sign on your garage door that reads: NO PARKING - TOW AWAY ZONE
Tell the neighbors to please tell their guests not to park on your side- that way you're not directly accusing them. If that doesn't work, park smack in the middle yourself to teach them a lesson. If that doesn't work, let the air out of one or two tires every time they do it (that way they can't assume it's you doing it). If that doesn't work, call a towing company.
 
Nothing good will come from calling the cops. The best you could hope for would be that the cops and the neighbors get in a shoot out and kill each other. But more likely they will kill you or some other innocent.

Try talking to them respectfully and calmly. If that doesn't work, move. Starting a war with them is going to destroy your peace of mind and make matters worse.
 
They're idiots.

Put a Parking Meter by your side of the driveway. If they park there anyway print off some fake tickets and put them on their car.

I'm interested in hearing an approach that has the possibility of success...

If it was my house I'd start throwing weekend parties that only permitted folks on scooters with drag pipes....:D

FMPOV, the aggression started already, when it became a habit for them to disrespect/violate his property rights.

Now, it is he, chudrockz, that is put into a straight of "having" to do something or "lay down".

I would go with the chalk line down the driveway property line, and "MINE" written on his side as a non-violent starter of discussion/assertion of his rights (or they can just abide quietly). (If he is at a discomfort to tactfully confront them to start with. If, as I have done in the past, he has waited until he is really pissed that may not be such a good idea to start with).

That's easy. Morally, you can use such force as is necessary to repel a trespass on your property. So have at it. But being morally correct doesn't necessarily mean it is smart.

In general, if you value peace of mind, it is a bad idea to provoke people you can't get away from and who have nothing to lose, unless you totally eliminate their ability to retaliate. If you piss off people who have nothing to do but sit around all day figuring out ways to fuck with you while you are off at work, it is a near certainty that your life is going to take a turn for the worse. Personally, I have more interesting and pleasant things to do with my time than feud with the neighbors. So I would find a way to solve the problem without starting a war, even if it means ignoring the problem. I don't have a pressing need to make people treat me fairly. But some folks enjoy conflict - or are so driven by pride that they can't allow some fool to "get away" with bad behavior. It is to some extent a matter of what you want in life. I value peace of mind and am willing to go around an obstacle and ignore a slight to get it. Works for me. Your mileage may vary.
 
I would take your wife's advice and just talk to them - unemotionally. Make it clear that clear access at all times is a requirement for you and ask them what needs to be done to make that a reality. Ta-da, diplomacy.
 
Park halfway up your driveway so no one can park behind you without hanging out in the street

That being said, these neighbors are flat out nuts, and rude. Their kids deal drugs out of their cars parked in front of our house 24/7. There's a GRADE SCHOOL two thirds of a block away, for fuck's sake. And the thing with parking improperly (I'd argue with I think 100% validity, illegally) is that they've been doing in I'd say on average once a week or more for OVER FIVE YEARS.

I just get flabergasted. I mean, what kind of complete and total FUCKTARD parks in someone else's driveway? Or "on the street" such that they are completely blocking someone else's driveway?

In my opinion that would be one utterly justifiable use for a 911 call, to remove an illegal obstruction from MY damn property.

C'mon. Very few people here are for illegal drugs, but so long as they are illegal, it's a very dirty/dangerous business that brings some bad characters around. Desperate addicts, dealers who may be violent, etc. and it doesn't sound like it's a happy hippie sharing his 'shrooms.

Bullet holes coming through the adjoining wall when other drug dealers attempt to steal from them, or the inevitable swat raid. Hell, swat might even raid his house as well since its connected. That's what is wrong with dealing drugs.
