Hello there! European Ron Paul supporter here (Netherlands)!

I got 12.000,- euro on a bank account right now and seeing that the future of the euro looks just as shitty as the dollar, I'm thinking about buying silver? Would that be a wise choice?

Long term definitely yes. Short term i think we are up for a correction.
I would also diversify and buy 1-2 ounzes of gold as a diversification.
And get out of ABN Amro / ING / Dexia bank accounts if you have one :)

What is your area of expertise? The reason I ask is that any investment you make at this moment is very, very risky. I would only invest in something I know inside and out. Do you have any hobbies that you are really in to? I am gardening on a large scale and I planted organic corn, which is doing awesome! Corn is going, up, up, up since we have had this heat wave, and I am standing to make a few bucks.

gold is safer. maybe buy 2/3 gold, 1/3 silver.

i still think that everyone's primary holding should be gold, with silver as a secondary position.

or buy some gold, and buy some other fiat currencies... swiss franc, singapore dollar, yen, yuan, australian dollar, etc.

because if you put your entire bank account into precious metals, you have to accept the fact that they could go down by 30% or 50% relatively quickly. i doubt gold could drop by 50%, but it could happen.... but certainly 30% corrections in gold and 50% corrections in silver are very possible at any time.

so it's up to you... most of my money is in gold and silver, and has been for years, but it doesn't bother me when the price goes down.... but i know that some people freak out when the prices come down.

but especially if you don't need the money for 5+ years... i think that over the next 5+ years, gold and silver should both be much, much higher.... so you should own some if you can. just be sure you understand the risks before jumping in with both feet.

Gold. Plain and simple.

Ok thanks guys! Going 2/3 gold and 1/3 silver. We'll see how it works out :)

I ask you and the others who wrote a few questions and I would like them to answer. Silver inventory extremely low and low supply is a good thing or bad thing for an investor? Silver like Gold has also been a money metal throughout history and when the dollar and euro are strong silver like gold is weak so do you think the dollar and euro are going to get stronger and if so how since the US has in excess of over a 100 Trillion dollar liability and no way to pay it? Silver is required in every computer, phone, solar device, and other medical devices because of it's conductive properties and the inventory is very, very low so will that make the price go down because unlike gold which is not being consumed and the supply stays the same is the inventory level not relevant to the silver investor's price? It is a fact that the prices of silver has been manipulated to lower than what a free trading would yield (which also has contributed to the lower inventory levels) so long term is that any consideration for an investor or not? I could go on and on but hopefully you will see that the honest answers will drive one to conclude silver is a better choice for an investor. Keep mind a lot of chart watchers and hot air abound especially here. We are not in normal times now. This is a unique position in history but it actually is part of a cycle that does recur over time. If one studies fiat money and what happens to gold and silver what should one conclude about where we are about to land? For me I buy silver. It is a bargain now.
