Ok, so last time I posted about getting donations to put an ad in my school newspaper (2000 circulation amount) I didn't get too much enthusiasm because people thought it was a waste. That was for a $250 full page ad. Now I've decided the only way I'll be able to make this happen is to pay for it myself. Unfortuantely I'm only 17 and tight on cash. So instead, I'm going to pay for their $40 ad which gives you an ad about the size of a business card.

Does anyone here have any ideas in how I can target the kids? Detail may cause them to look the ad over. If it was just a simple message it may get more attention? This school is mostly democratic so I have to keep that in mind when creating the ad. Please let me know if you have any ideas or if you're willing to create an ad yourself. Thanks.

EDIT:

This is what I've got so far guys. What do you think?

By the way, I've decided the $40 is too small to be any effective. The one I want to put in will be $90 and it will be 7.25 inches x 6.50 inches (almost double this size). Can anyone help me out with this? I can pay about half, but at this moment I'm tight on cash to pay any more.

To target kids, don't overwhelm with information, pretty a cool image of Ron Paul and spiffy slogan like "Give Freedom one more chance" and something like "LEARN MORE @ TEAPARY07.com"

Don't talk issues in ads towards the youth, first get there attention and drive them to somewhere they can satiate their curiousity.

They will not spend more than 30 seconds reading an ad, so drive the point home, and direct them to the website

Thanks for the responses so far. If anyone else has more suggestions please speak up. I have to get this in by next week.

How about a simple "Ron Paul....Restore the Constitution...ronpaul2008.com, Ronpaulishope.com"? I think that would get quite a bit of attention.

Ron Paul

End the War in Iraq
Freedom, Peace and Liberty

If you're targeting high school kids then the issues they most likely care about are Iraq, drug war, and abortion.

i dont like "legalize marijuana", how about "end the war on drugs", and "end the iraq war" should be the highlighted one.

The only reason I chose that is because I know it would attract alot more eyes. Ending the war on drugs to many seems like he wants to ban all drugs (from a high school student perspective.)

"Ask your teacher what's in the constitution"

Then they'll be forced to research it - and who knows they may be converted too if they find out what happened to it.

$250 for a school newspaper? Why not just volunteer to write an article, and then write one about Ron Paul?

what the heck school do you go to?!?!?

and I would focus on Ending the War, and perhaps No War with Iran, no draft, stop the killing, etc etc.

Yeah, I will change it to "End the war on Drugs" as opposed to legalize marijuana. And yeah, $250 is for the full page ad =(. Our newspaper has won national awards numerous times so that may account for their pricing. I'll let you know how it goes.
